Spencer Wells As Cover Story Interview – June 2026 Magazine Edition

Spencer Wells

Award-winning celebrity makeup artist and entrepreneur Spencer Wells has built a remarkable career helping people feel confident, empowered, and seen through the transformative power of beauty. Based in South Florida, Wells’ journey has been shaped not only by professional success but also by personal challenges, including living with Tourette’s syndrome, managing thyroid and weight-related struggles, and overcoming periods of loss, self-doubt, and reinvention. These experiences have deepened his resilience and empathy, inspiring a people-centered approach that goes far beyond makeup to create meaningful, confidence-building experiences. As he prepares to launch ARRIVÉE, an innovative luxury beauty and wellness concept, Wells continues to champion authenticity, self-belief, and the idea that true beauty is about revealing—not changing—who you are.

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Spencer Wells. I’m an award winning celebrity makeup artist, creative director, and entrepreneur based in South Florida. I’ve spent the better part of my 21 plus year career helping people feel confident, seen, and empowered through beauty and artistry. While makeup is the medium I work in, what I really do is create experiences that remind people of who they are at their very best.

I’m also the founder of Spencer Wells Creative, and I’m currently preparing to launch ARRIVÉE, a bespoke luxury beauty and wellness concept designed around the idea that convenience and exceptional service should never require compromise.

At the end of the day, I consider myself someone who loves people, loves creativity, and believes that confidence can be transformative.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Like most people, my story hasn’t been a straight line.

One of the most personal struggles I’ve faced is living with Tourette’s syndrome. There have been tics and vocalizations that brought embarrassment, anxiety, and a constant awareness of how I might be perceived by others. People often make assumptions when they don’t understand what they’re seeing or hearing—they may think you’re being disruptive, seeking attention, rude, or simply “different” in ways that invite judgment. Learning to navigate those moments with grace while protecting my own sense of self has been an ongoing journey. It has required vulnerability, self-acceptance, and the courage to show up authentically even when I felt exposed.

I’ve also struggled with weight and thyroid issues, challenges that can affect not only your health and energy but also your confidence and relationship with your own reflection. Working in a creative industry where image and appearance can seem like they’re all that matter has amplified those insecurities at times. There is an unspoken pressure to fit a certain mold, to always look polished and camera-ready, and it can be exhausting when your body doesn’t always cooperate with the expectations placed upon it. I’ve had to learn that my worth isn’t determined by a number on a scale, a diagnosis, or whether I meet someone else’s standard of beauty.

I’ve experienced seasons of loss, uncertainty, disappointment, and having to rebuild from the ground up. I’ve had moments where I questioned myself, my abilities, and whether I was capable of carrying the weight of the dreams I had for my life. I’ve learned what it feels like to pour everything you have into people, relationships, and businesses and still face rejection, criticism, or failure.

Building a career in a creative industry isn’t always glamorous. There are hurricanes and floods, literal and figurative. There are sacrifices people don’t see, sleepless nights, and difficult decisions that require choosing growth over comfort.

But I genuinely believe hardship has made me softer where it matters and stronger where it’s needed. It taught me resilience, empathy, and gratitude. It taught me that you don’t have to be fearless to keep going—you just have to keep taking the next step.

What do people usually not know about you?

People often assume that because I work in beauty and luxury spaces that I’m naturally outgoing and effortlessly confident all the time.

The truth is, I’m an overthinker. I’m deeply introspective. I feel things intensely. I spend a lot of time analyzing, reflecting, and questioning whether I’m doing enough or being enough.

I’m also incredibly sentimental. The people I love mean everything to me. I’m fiercely loyal and protective, and I never take relationships for granted. Behind all of the glamour and polished images is someone who genuinely cares about people and wants to leave them better than I found them.

What sets you apart from others?

I don’t think I sell makeup.

I sell a feeling.

Anyone can learn technique. Products can be duplicated. Trends come and go. But making someone feel safe, understood, beautiful, and confident in their own skin-that’s different.

I take the time to understand who someone is and how they want to move through the world.

My approach is never one-size-fits-all because I don’t believe beauty should erase who you are. I believe it should reveal you.

Whether I’m working with a bride, a CEO, someone attending a gala, or someone who simply wants to feel like themselves again, my goal is always the same: to help them step into the most authentic and empowered version of themselves.

What are your upcoming major events?

This is an incredibly exciting season.

I recently relocated my businesses to West Palm Beach and preparing for the launch of ARRIVÉE, a membership-based luxury beauty and wellness experience that reimagines what personalized service can look like. The goal is to bring an elevated, celebrity-level experience directly to clients in a way that is thoughtful, convenient, and deeply personal.

Alongside that, I’ll continue working with incredible clients throughout South Florida, participating in charitable events, galas, and creative collaborations that allow me to give back to the communities that have supported me throughout my career.

I truly feel like I’m stepping into one of the most meaningful chapters of my life, and I’m excited to see where it leads.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Don’t spend your life trying to become someone else.

There will always be someone more talented, more experienced, or further ahead. Comparison is an impossible race to win. The most powerful thing you can do is become more fully yourself.

Also, don’t wait until you feel ready. Confidence isn’t something you’re handed once you’ve achieved enough. It is built by showing up before you have all the answers, taking risks, making mistakes, and trusting yourself enough to keep going.

And finally, remember that people may forget exactly what you said or what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

Whether in business or in life, lead with kindness, authenticity, and excellence. Those things never go out of style.

That, and the only way to wear makeup incorrectly, is to wear it insecurely.  If you believe in your own power, nobody can tell you otherwise!
