Victoria Taylor As Cover Story Interview – September 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I am Victoria Taylor. And the truest introduction I can give is this.

I am the woman who walked into a police station at thirty-two years old and said the words I had been carrying since childhood. Everything I have built began from that moment.

I am a trauma-informed speaker and the author of six books. Five of them are for women. The sixth, The Silence, is for men. Because the tunnel does not discriminate. Men carry it too. In a different kind of silence, with a different set of rules about what they are allowed to feel and who they are allowed to tell. They deserved a door built in their own language. So I built them one. And through Victoria Taylor Speaks I work with men both privately in one to one coaching and in group settings, because The Silence was never just a book. It was the beginning of a conversation I was not prepared to leave unfinished.

I am also the creator of The Tunnel Framework®, a registered seven-step methodology built not from a textbook but from the inside of my own survival. I co-own Mindset + Mastery, where I bring the trauma-informed specialism and my business partner brings the chronic illness specialism, because the women who need the most support are so often carrying both. And I co-own TRIUMPH RECLAIM, a government-aligned 26-week employment programme for women who have been locked out of opportunity by trauma or complex health conditions.

I built everything I have on truth. Not performance. On declaration. Not explanation.

Struggle — What hardships have you gone through in life?

I grew up in circumstances that most people will never have to imagine.

Severe childhood abuse. Sexual abuse. Neglect. Hunger. Isolation. Systemic failure that should have protected me and did not. I lived in a home where the silence was enforced. Where what happened inside those walls stayed there because the cost of speaking was something a child could not afford.

I learned very early that the safest thing I could do was say nothing.

So I said nothing. For thirty-two years.

I fought for my education. I lived with diagnosed dyslexia, the kind that shows up in spelling, grammar, punctuation and pronunciation, and was told in ways both spoken and unspoken that I was not enough. I went to university anyway. I graduated anyway. I built a life that looked from the outside like someone who had it together.

Nobody knew what I was carrying underneath all of it.

In 2021 I walked into a police station and said the words I had been carrying since childhood. I counted my steps on the way home. Every single one. And somewhere between that door and my front door, something that had been pressing on my chest for decades was placed somewhere that could hold it.

What followed were some of the hardest years of my life. People loitered outside my home. The police installed a panic button on my wall connected directly to them. I pressed it more than once.

I lost relationships. I lost family. I experienced a housing crisis that put everything I had built at risk.

And it was still better than the silence.

Because the silence had its own terror. The kind that wakes you at three in the morning not because someone is outside your window but because the weight of what you refuse to say has found its way into your body and will not be quiet.

In 2022 I returned and reported the child abuse.

And in the middle of all of it I began to write. Not because it was therapeutic. But because I needed a map. And when I could not find one I built it.

What people do not always understand is that the books are not a retrospective. They are not me looking back from a safe distance and making sense of what happened. Each book was written from inside the layer of the journey I was living at the time. Book One goes into the past, the childhood, the silence, what was done and what it cost. Book Two was written in the disorientation of standing in freedom and not knowing what to build. Book Three was written from the place of becoming, of crowning the woman on the other side. Book Five goes furthest back of all, to the child who first learned to carry it before she had any words for what it was. And Book Six, The Silence, was written because the tunnel does not discriminate. Men carry it too. In a different kind of silence, with a different set of rules about what they are allowed to feel and who they are allowed to tell. They deserved a map written in their own language. So I built them one.

The Tunnel Series is not one story. It is a living body of work written as the life was being lived. That map became The Tunnel Framework. And the woman who was told she was too much, too messy, too complicated, she became the woman writing this. And coaching others through it.

What do people usually not know about you?

That I wrote the first book while I was still inside the experience. Not after. During.

And that every book that followed was the same. Written from inside the layer of the journey I was living at the time. Most authors write from the other side looking back. I was writing as it was happening, which means the books carry something that cannot be manufactured. The reader can feel that it was not written from a safe distance. That is not a writing technique. That is what it actually was.

What people also do not know is that I have diagnosed dyslexia and that the same woman who was told throughout her education that she was not enough went on to write six books. I find something quietly powerful in that every time I hear from someone who has been told the same thing in a different context.

At the back of Book Two I wrote a letter to my future self during one of the most difficult periods of my life. Because I needed to believe she was real. And in Book Three I crowned her. Not as a metaphor. As a declaration. The woman after the tunnel does not just survive. She reigns.

Faith in Yahuah is the foundation everything rests on. Not as a statement for public consumption but as the thing that held me when nothing else could. Every book ends with it because every step of this journey was carried by it.

What sets you apart from others?

The Tunnel Framework was built from thirty-two years of walking every one of its steps personally before I offered any of them to anyone else. That is not something that can be replicated in a training room.

I am CPD Accredited at Trauma Specialist level, APT Accredited as a Trauma Informed Practitioner, a qualified NLP Practitioner and I hold a Diploma in Safeguarding Adults and Children across all four levels. But the authority behind the work does not come from those certificates. It comes from having lived it, survived it, named it and built a structured methodology from it that women and men can actually walk through.

The people who come to me have usually already tried everything else. They have done the therapy. They have read the books. They have understood their patterns. And something is still unresolved. That gap between insight and freedom is exactly where the framework was built to work.

This is not a personal brand built on aesthetics. It is a body of work built on survival, professional rigour and the absolute refusal to let what happened to me be the last word.

What are your upcoming major events?

I wrote a letter to my future self at the back of Book Two. In it she was standing on stages in Barbados, America, Jamaica, Nigeria, Brazil, New Zealand, Italy and China. At the time I was in the middle of the hardest season of my life. I wrote it anyway because I needed to believe she was coming.

She is coming.

The international stages are the next chapter and I am walking toward them with everything I have built. The work is ready for those rooms. The people in those rooms are ready for this work.

In the meantime the conversations are happening every day. In organisations across the UK. In one to one sessions. In group settings. In the homes of women and men working through The Tunnel at Home at their own pace in their own time.

And the next book is forming. Because the series is not finished. There is still more to say and there are still people who need to hear it.

The tunnel took everything from me for a long time. What is coming next is everything it could not.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Stop waiting to feel ready.

The people who change their lives are not the ones who waited until the weight lifted. They are the ones who started moving while they were still carrying it. Readiness is not a feeling that arrives before you begin. It is a feeling that arrives because you began.

Insight is not freedom. You can understand exactly why you respond the way you do, trace it back to its origin, name every pattern and have the most sophisticated therapeutic vocabulary available, and still be completely run by all of it. Understanding is the beginning of the work. Not the end of it.

The most dangerous thing trauma does is convince you that the weight is just who you are. It is not. It is what you learned to carry in circumstances that gave you no other choice. There is a significant difference between those two things. And in that difference is where everything begins.

The silence you are keeping is not protecting you. It is costing you. I know what that cost feels like from the inside. And I know what becomes available the moment you put it down.

The person you are becoming is not cancelled by who you have been. They are built from it. The suffering was real. But it is not the final word unless you let it be.

I decided it was the beginning of everything. And it was.
