TheCelebrity.Online: For readers just discovering you, tell us a little about yourself.

Kevin Korveil: I’m the founder and photographer behind Pivot Port, a Chicago-based photography brand specializing in engagement sessions, surprise proposals, elopements, couples photography, and destination travel. Before photography, I spent years as a music producer, so my career has definitely taken an unexpected—but rewarding—creative path.

TheCelebrity.Online: You built a name for yourself in music. What made you pivot into photography?

Kevin Korveil: It happened naturally. Photography started as something I genuinely enjoyed outside of music, but the more I photographed people, the more I realized it was becoming my true passion. One day I had to admit to myself that I actually enjoyed photography more than producing music. That realization changed everything.

TheCelebrity.Online: Was making that career change scary?

Kevin Korveil: Absolutely. Whenever you’ve invested years into one profession, changing direction comes with uncertainty. But I also believe growth requires taking chances. Looking back, I wasn’t abandoning creativity—I was simply expressing it in a different way.

TheCelebrity.Online: Does your background as a music producer still influence your work today?

Kevin Korveil: Every day. Music taught me about storytelling, emotion, timing, and composition. When I’m photographing a proposal or engagement, I’m looking for rhythm and authentic emotion just like I did when producing a record. Those creative instincts never disappear.

TheCelebrity.Online: Your company has a unique name. What’s the story behind Pivot Port?

Kevin Korveil: I wanted something that represented more than just my name. I didn’t want another business called “Kevin Korveil Photography.” The word “pivot” represents life’s biggest transitions, while “port” symbolizes a place where new journeys begin. Every proposal, engagement, or wedding marks the beginning of a new chapter, and that’s exactly what we document. The name also reflects my own entrepreneurial pivot from music into photography.

TheCelebrity.Online: What makes Pivot Port different from other photography brands?

Kevin Korveil: I focus on creating an experience rather than simply delivering photos. I want couples to feel comfortable enough to be themselves because that’s when the best moments happen. My style is documentary-inspired with natural direction, allowing real emotions to shine instead of forcing poses.

TheCelebrity.Online: Chicago has become part of your brand identity. What inspires you about the city?

Kevin Korveil: Chicago offers endless inspiration. From the skyline and Lake Michigan to the neighborhoods and historic architecture, every location tells a different story. I love using the city as a backdrop while keeping the focus on the couple and their connection.

TheCelebrity.Online: We hear you also travel for destination sessions.

Kevin Korveil: Yes, and I love it. Whether it’s another U.S. city or an international destination, traveling allows me to tell stories in incredible locations. Every place has its own atmosphere, and every couple deserves photographs that reflect both their relationship and the place that’s meaningful to them.

TheCelebrity.Online: What advice would you give someone who’s thinking about reinventing their career?

Kevin Korveil: Don’t let your previous success keep you from pursuing something that excites you even more. Your experience doesn’t disappear when you pivot—it becomes your advantage. Everything I learned in music helped shape the photographer I am today.

TheCelebrity.Online: What’s next for Pivot Port?

Kevin Korveil: I’m focused on continuing to grow the brand, photographing more destination engagements and elopements, collaborating with couples from around the world, and creating timeless images that they’ll treasure for generations. This is only the beginning.
