Chassidy Autumn As Cover Story Interview – August 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
Chassidy Autumn is a Brooklyn-raised entrepreneur, hairstylist, educator, mentor, philanthropist, and community organizer. She is the founder of two beauty spaces in Brooklyn: Chassidy Autumn’s Home for Hair, a hair school and salon that provides beauty education and opportunities for girls ages 13 and up, and CA Pink Street, a salon suite space created for beauty professionals and entrepreneurs.
Chassidy is also the Founder and President of The Glam Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to using beauty, education, mentorship, and community-based initiatives to pour back into underserved communities. She is a proud graduate of Spelman College, where she studied Economics with a minor in Management, and she is the creator and mentor behind the Pinkprint Mentorship program.
At the core of everything Chassidy builds is a desire to create opportunities for others. What began with doing hair has grown into entrepreneurship, education, mentorship, philanthropy, and community impact. She believes her gift was never meant to stop with her, and she continues to use the platforms and businesses she has built to open doors for the next generation.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
My journey started when I began doing hair at 13 years old. Around that same age, I started working through Summer Youth Employment because I wasn’t raised with a silver spoon. My mother did the best she could for me, but there were things I wanted and goals I had that required me to work for them. That taught me independence, work ethic, and responsibility very early in life. By 16, I was already booth renting and learning what it meant to operate as an entrepreneur.
My journey has definitely come with setbacks. I’ve had to learn that all money isn’t good money, that every opportunity isn’t meant for me, and that sometimes growth requires rebuilding. I’ve also had to learn how to keep believing in my vision even when other people didn’t understand it. There were critics who questioned the way I ran my business, including the way I celebrated and poured into my clients, but I continued doing what felt authentic to me.
One of the biggest reasons I believe I’ve gotten this far is because I never allowed myself to sit down and make my life a sad story. Hard things have happened. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve lost, learned, rebuilt, and evolved. But I never wanted to live as a victim of my circumstances. I always asked myself, “What can I learn from this, and what’s next?” Every version of my journey has taught me something that prepared me for the next one.
What do people usually not know about you?
Something people may not fully see through social media is how deeply rooted I am in my faith. My relationship with GOD is at the center of my life, my businesses, and the decisions I make. I always say that GOD is my business partner because I truly believe everything I’ve been able to build started with Him.
People may see the businesses, the beauty industry, the events, or the accomplishments, but there is a much deeper purpose behind it all. I’m very intentional about pouring into young people and creating things that can outlive me. I don’t just want to be successful. I want my success to mean something. Whether it’s teaching a young girl a skill, mentoring her through a new season, giving a child school supplies, or helping someone see possibilities for their own life, I want what GOD gives me to flow through me and reach other people.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is that I never allowed myself to be defined only as a hairstylist. Hair was the gift that opened the door, but I took beauty and turned it into education, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and real community impact.
I built a space where young girls can learn a skill. I created salon suites where other beauty professionals can operate and grow their businesses. I created mentorship opportunities to pour into the next generation, and through The Glam Collective, I’ve been able to use beauty as a vehicle for service and philanthropy.
For me, beauty has never just been about how someone looks when they leave the chair. It’s about confidence, opportunity, education, ownership, and impact. I think that’s what makes what I’ve built different.
What are your upcoming major events?
Yes! One of our biggest upcoming events is The Glam Collective’s Third Annual Back-to-School Drive on August 30, 2026. Our goal this year is to provide 500 children with fully stocked book bags while creating an entire free community experience for young people and their families.
The event goes far beyond giving away school supplies. We’re bringing together beauty professionals, businesses, organizations, and community partners to provide free hairstyles, haircuts, beauty services, food, games, face painting, cotton candy, activities, and so much more. I want children to leave prepared for school, but I also want them to leave feeling celebrated.
We’re also preparing for our second annual cancer awareness fashion show. This initiative celebrates individuals who are currently battling cancer as well as cancer survivors. We provide participants with complimentary beauty experiences, including hair services and wigs, along with styling and clothing, and give them the opportunity to walk the runway and be celebrated. It’s such a beautiful reminder that beauty, confidence, and joy can still exist in the middle of difficult seasons.
And this is only the beginning. I’m extremely excited about the future of The Glam Collective and continuing to create community experiences that genuinely impact people’s lives.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Start before you’re ready.
So many people wait until they have all the money, all the resources, all the answers, or until everything looks perfect. If I had waited until I felt completely ready, I wouldn’t have built half of what I have today. The Bible tells us to walk by faith and not by sight, and that is something I’ve had to live out throughout my journey.
Stay consistent, keep GOD at the center, and don’t allow other people’s inability to see your vision to make you question what GOD showed you. You also have to be willing to evolve. Learn from your mistakes, accept correction, rebuild when necessary, and keep moving.
Most importantly, never underestimate your gift. The thing you start with may be the doorway to something much bigger. I started doing hair at 13 years old. I couldn’t have imagined then that the same gift would eventually lead me into education, mentorship, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and community work. Your gift can make room for you in ways you haven’t even imagined yet.
