How do you introduce yourself?
I am the founder of Filming Italy Los Angeles, Filming Italy Sardegna, and the Filming Italy Venice Award. I currently serve as the Artistic Director of the Taormina Film Festival. I can also now consider myself the first European woman to lead such a prestigious film festivals .
What hardships have you gone through?
Throughout my career, I have had to face the challenge of working in an environment largely dominated by men. Being a woman directing a film festival is a constant challenge. I often feel that I have to work three times as hard and continually prove myself in the field in order to demonstrate my abilities.
What do people usually not know about you?
I always put my soul and heart into everything I do, pushing beyond my limits and constantly striving to do more, never less. Behind my work lies an enormous commitment, involving nights and days, months of round-the-clock work, and nonstop dedication. Although it may look easy and glamorous from the outside, it is an extremely complicated and demanding activity, requiring great sacrifice, attention to detail, and constant care. Achieving results requires immense effort, perseverance, determination, and working tirelessly around the clock—an extraordinary level of dedication that people often cannot imagine.
What sets you apart from others?
What distinguishes me is my determination and my love for difficult challenges, which I enjoy transforming into successful events. I am also distinguished by my ability to have built a concrete, international bridge between Italian and foreign cinema—bringing major productions abroad and achieving historic recognition, such as Walk of Fame stars for our artists. I am also deeply committed to creating opportunities for and highlighting women and younger generations in cinema.
What are your upcoming events?
My upcoming engagements include the eighth edition of the Filming Italy Venice Award, held during the Venice Film Festival, where we will present the award to actor Orlando Bloom. This will be followed by new editions of Filming Italy Los Angeles and Filming Italy Sardegna, as well as my work as Artistic Director of the Taormina Film Festival.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice to anyone who wants to pursue this path is to firmly believe in what they do and approach it with great passion and dedication. As we often emphasize with the distinguished guests at our masterclasses, starting from nothing and working hard can lead to extraordinary results. I also always stress that, today more than ever, professional training in the entertainment industry is essential and indispensable.
