Taylor Chadwell As Cover Story Interview – April 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m an actor, a stage combat performer, a guitarist, and a certified sommelier!

What hardships have you gone through?

My life has been pretty great, actually! Probably the biggest struggle has been finding my place as a performing artist in a foreign country. I moved to Italy to study the Italian renaissance mask theatre form “Commedia dell’Arte” right after I finished university. Many of my teachers didn’t even speak English! I became fluent in Italian but of course I still have a slight American accent. After getting my Master’s of Fine Arts in Physical Theatre, and deciding that I wanted to continue living in Italy, finding an entry point into acting was…opaque, to say the least. But I had some early success doing American musical cabarets and also doing Commedia dell’Arte in France, of all places. There is something both absurd and immensely satisfying about being an American leaping around on stage wearing a leather mask while performing in Italian to a French audience. Now of course many multi-cultural productions are filming in Europe so there are considerably more opportunities to get work as an American actor.

What do people usually not know about you?

I’m also an entrepreneur and run my own business in the Italian wine sector! I actually keep my two professions completely separate and most people that know me from one industry have no idea I am involved in the other…and I like it that way!

What sets you apart from others?

I mean, being an American actor living and working in Europe is pretty different. It’s a double-edged sword, to be sure. But it’s also an adventure! I wind up working both as a stage performer doing gritty bootstrap live theatre in tiny villages in Italy and France and as a film actor getting flown around to major cities to shoot professional film projects. And I enjoy both! When I’m not performing, I’m either traveling around Europe teaching stage combat in various academies or exploring new wine regions.

What are your upcoming major events?

I am off on tour next week in Italy for an English language theatre project. This summer I am teaching sword fighting at a professional stunt school in Milan, fighting for film at an acting school in Tuscany, and then running a big stage combat workshop in London…so I am keeping busy!
