Orease Bowers As Cover Story Interview – February 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I am Orease Bowers, an Actor, Acting Coach, Father, Husband and Grandfather.
What hardships did you face in your life?
Growing up in Brooklyn (Lafayette Gardens housing projects) though I loved it there and enjoyed my childhood, after my grandmother passed when I was young, there were many days when we didn’t know when our next meal would come from. There was also a great deal of addiction within my family dynamic so there were many things I saw and was made aware of just by being around it. I later in my early adulthood found myself dealing with some of those same addictions I witnessed as a child. After a few years I eventually I overcame those particular issues. I’ve never revisited those dark days since.
What do people usually not know about you?
Most people don’t know by looking at me that I have loved acting since I was a child but couldn’t see how it would be possible given my situation back then. I didn’t actively pursue it until I was in my 40’s. My kids were out of the house and I took the opportunity to GO FOR IT; regardless of how old I was. I didn’t put limitations on my career. I also used to be a rapper. I had a group called Mass Trauma back in the early 2000’s. We had minor local success you could say. Did shows at the legendary CBGB’s in Manhattan, Nell’s and a few other spots. So I’m an ASCAP member (for songwriting and publishing) as well as SAG-AFTRA. Oh….I am also a huge Beatles fan; always have been. I was introduced to their music as a child and it did something to my soul.
What sets you apart from you?
What sets me apart from others in my career and life is, I put no expectations on how I think anything should turn out. I do what I love or feels “right” for me from moment to moment. I don’t do things to get things. Things may come as a result of what I’ve done but that’s not the goal; which sounds weird being an actor. I choose to see every experience as “serving” me, even if it’s something that doesn’t look like it does. I see it as giving me an opportunity to learn, grow and be prepared for what’s coming. I choose to feel good no matter what the circumstances look like or whether I “book the role” or not. Life’s circumstances can’t be the reason I’m happy because that’s conditional. It’s all internal for me. All of life’s accomplishments, possessions or circumstances are all temporary. I find gratitude in the littlest things. I appreciate life and all that comes with it; it’s ebbs and flows.
What are your upcoming events?
I’m always working on something but right now there’s nothing that I can speak of because of my obligation not to. But you and everyone will know when I’m able to do so.
What would be your expert advice?
The “expert” advice I’d like to give is, we are the creators of our life experiences. There’s always going to be someone who tells you why you should or shouldn’t do something. But there’s only one you with one life to do what makes your heart sing. And if it seems scary then it probably means you should do it because it obviously means something to you. Do it if you’re scared or not. What do you have to lose? And embrace the rough times, the struggles because it prepares you for what you have been asking for. Don’t let age, circumstances or doubts hold you back. You don’t to have regrets. Take chance and have fun at the same time. Don’t take it all so seriously. Life is meant to be fun.
