Olivia Parks As Cover Story Interview – July 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Olivia Parks, and I’m the owner of a professional home organizing company based in New Orleans, Louisiana, called Professional Organizer New Orleans.
My company helps homeowners throughout the Greater New Orleans area declutter, organize, pack, unpack, and create systems that make their homes easier to live in. Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed by clutter, recently moved, is downsizing, or simply wants a fresh start, we’re there to make the process less stressful.
At the end of the day, our goal is to help people take back the space in their homes so they can spend less time stressing about their belongings and more time enjoying their lives.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I think everyone goes through hardships in life, whether they choose to talk about them or keep them to themselves.
For me, one of the biggest hardships has also been one of the biggest blessings: becoming an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship can be a very lonely journey. Not everyone understands what you’re trying to build, especially if you come from a family where most of them have traditional 9-to-5 jobs. A lot of the pressure falls on you. You’re responsible for making the decisions, solving the problems, supporting your team, and figuring things out when no one has the answers.
People also don’t always see what goes into running a business. They see the success, but they don’t see the long days, the weekends, the sleepless nights, or the constant mental load that comes with being a business owner.
That journey has taught me resilience and the importance of finding mentors and surrounding myself with people who have already accomplished what I’m working toward. Having people to learn from has made all the difference.
What do people usually not know about you?
I think one thing people don’t realize is how much of my twenties I dedicated to building my business.
While many people my age were going out or simply enjoying their twenties, I chose to spend countless nights and weekends working. I wanted to create something that would give me financial freedom and allow me to build a life on my own terms.
There were definitely sacrifices along the way, but looking back, I wouldn’t change them. Building my business has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
What sets you apart from others?
I would say my work ethic and my passion.
This business isn’t just my job; it’s my life. I’m constantly thinking about ways to improve our company, better serve our clients, grow our team, and continue learning.
I honestly don’t think anyone is willing to outwork me in this industry. I care deeply about what I do, and I think passion is one of the biggest reasons people become successful.
Being a great organizer is only one part of running a successful organizing business. You also have to know how to market yourself, build a brand, earn people’s trust, sell your services, lead a team, and create systems that allow your business to grow. I’ve spent years learning both the organizing side and the business side, and that’s also led me to start teaching other professional organizers how to build successful six-figure organizing businesses.
What are your upcoming major events?
Right now, my biggest focus is continuing to grow my home organizing company and helping more people discover that professional organizing is even an option. So many homeowners don’t realize these services exist until they feel completely overwhelmed.
We help clients with decluttering, organizing, packing, unpacking, downsizing, and move management. My mission is simply to help more people create homes that feel less stressful and more functional.
I’m also passionate about helping other professional organizers build successful businesses, so if there are organizers looking to grow their companies, that’s something I love teaching as well.
What expert advice would you like to give?
If you’re thinking about becoming an entrepreneur, understand that it’s a roller coaster. There will be amazing days, and there will be days where you question everything.
I’ve owned my business for over five years, and I’ve definitely had moments where I felt discouraged, overwhelmed, or wanted to give up. But every challenge has taught me something that made me a better business owner and a stronger person.
My biggest advice is to never let temporary setbacks stop you from pursuing something you truly want. Learn from every mistake, keep moving forward, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
I’d also encourage people to find mentors and surround themselves with people who are already where they want to be. Learning from someone who’s already walked that path can save you years of trial and error.
Most importantly, remember that success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built through consistency, hard work, and showing up every single day, even when no one is watching.
