How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Nyasia Chane’l I am an R&B singer-songwriter from new York.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I would say that I have been very 0blessed. Yes It is struggle being an independent artist which has myself and my team always scrambling to keep our business going, generating revenue, producing songs and other content but I get to live my dream. Growing up my parents worked very hard to provide me with opportunities to get an education and to cultivate my artistic and expressive impulses. I don’t view myself any different then most black women of my generation we are endeavoring to be seen, heard and taking seriously as professionals and human beings in general by they “system” and society as a whole.
What do people usually not know about you?
I went to college on a basketball scholarship.
What sets you apart from others?
I feel what sets me apart from some other artists is that I am willing to take chances musically to come out of my comfort zone and go against the grain. Often when I was starting out people would say I needed to pick a sound but for me and my team we want to go back to what R&B is which is Rhythm and Blues. The blues component are the stories that are told in our songs that become the soundtracks to our life events and as for the beat or the “rhythm” it doesn’t matter it can be a slow ballad, hip hop a Caribbean vibe or even dance. So what my fans have learned to expect from me is good music, vibes and stories.
What are your upcoming major events ?
We have a few things coming up one I can mention is I will be performing at the Gorgeous Kaos Fashion show for fashion week on Sept 12.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My only advice is to stay consistent and have a solid team around you that care about you as a person not just as brand.
