Kevin Reid As Cover Story Interview – September 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

Kevin Lloyd Reid or Kevin Reid
There’s a lot of guys with the same name.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

That’s a big question. We all go through hardships. Like many human beings, we go through stages. This stage of my life, I am working actors. Like many actors, of course we go through rejection on many fronts. Imposter syndrome, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of the unknown. In acting, my experience is there are always levels, levels to overcome. Everything I my think I am on top, there is a new level that I did not forsee. Back to the drawing board. More training, more learning, more networking. Just more. When I stop learning is when I am dead or obsolete. I don’t like the sound of either of those.

We all go through struggles. Those struggles in life for me starting out as a son, then a student, then a graduate, an employee, a husband, a father, a business owner, a successor, in some days a failure, an observer which all became an opportunity for me to learn. Those learning opportunities helped me to become an actor.

Yes, I may have started my acting career later in life but the things I learned along the way gave me the direction I needed to start something new.

What do people usually not know about you?

I have done a lot of different things in life. When I tell people some of my experiences I have had they sometimes do double take. I tell people I ran nightclubs as a promoter for more than 2 decades, I was also involved in Logistics and International Distribution (through trucking, ocean and air freight) for nearly 3 decades, I once owned truck brokerage business and a bakery where I sometimes decorated cakes for several years. That usually throws people off. They say, You??!!

What sets you apart from others?

Tenacity and Positivity
By nature, I am a rather positive person. I try to find solutions rather than spot the obvious problem. I admit first hand, I don’t know everything (many times I know nothing), but if i surround myself around people who know how to fix it or know someone who does, I just seem that much smarter to others.

Tenacity because I don’t like to give up. I may not solve it today, but it will be solved. I believe in goal setting and setting a plan to action, then doing it. one step at a time.

What are your upcoming major events ?

I have a short film screening September 5, 2026 for the TINFF located at York Woods Library Theatre for the short film Toxic Love. Another upcoming screening is October 20th at the FCFF in London, Ontario for the feature film The Cage.

I have other screenings coming up but they are still in the negotiating process.

What expert advice would you like to give?

For young actors. Remember the ABC’s of acting. Always Be on Camera is what a friend of mine Richard Okolo said to me. Find ways to always be acting on camera. It may mean practicing a monologue every month, reading a full script every month, filming something with your friends, taking acting classes or networking with colleagues and collaboratives. Always putting yourself in a position to win. just do some small habits every day towards your goal. Fifteen minutes a day for 21 days forms a new habit.
For the non Actor. You will be known for doing what you love and whose life you changed more than by those whom you have impressed.
