Cindy Hogan As Cover Story Interview – September 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
Is that a trick question? LOL. With a smile and an open heart.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Goodness, when you’ve lived as long as I have, there are plenty of hardships. But I’ve always tried not to look at them as just hardships. I see them as lessons. Some lessons I would have happily skipped, by the way! I’ve experienced loss, disappointment, career setbacks, and those moments when life simply didn’t go according to the plan I had in my head. But each one taught me something—about resilience, patience, letting go, or starting over. I think one of the gifts of getting older is realising that the things you thought were going to break you often become the very things that make you stronger, wiser, and sometimes even lead you somewhere you never expected to go. So when I look back, I don’t think, “Look at all the hardships I’ve been through.” I think, “Look at all the lessons I’ve been lucky enough to learn.” And apparently, I’m still enrolled!
What do people usually not know about you?
That I am very different from the roles I play. I get to play people far more interesting. 🙂 Oh, and I talk to myself. But I am an actor, so technically, I call it rehearsing.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is the combination of experience, intuition, and genuine connection I bring to what I do. I’ve spent years learning my craft, but I’ve also learned that talent alone isn’t what makes someone memorable. It’s authenticity. I have a natural ability to see people—who they really are, what makes them unique, and sometimes even the potential they haven’t recognized in themselves yet. I listen, I pay attention, and I bring both honesty and compassion to my work. Ultimately, what sets me apart isn’t one accomplishment or skill. It’s the combination of my life experience, my work ethic, my ability to connect with people, and the perspective that only I can bring.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I have some really exciting things coming up. The film Bedford Park premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, won awards, and was picked up by Sony. It is also screening at the Discovery program at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It will have its theatrical release soon as well.
I also have a recurring role in the upcoming Netflix series All the Sinners Bleed, which I’m really looking forward to people seeing.
But honestly, the most important thing on my upcoming calendar? Spending time with my granddaughter. The premieres and projects are wonderful—but she’s definitely the headliner.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice is to be prepared, stay curious, and never stop learning. In this business, there are so many things you can’t control—who gets the part, when the phone rings, or where the next opportunity comes from. But you can control how prepared you are when that opportunity arrives.
My motto has always been, “Work with your hands full and your heart open.”
Success isn’t always about getting where you thought you were going. Sometimes it’s about being open enough to recognize an opportunity you never knew you were looking for.
So, do the work, be kind, stay open—and when the door opens, be ready to walk through it.
