Catie Thompson As Cover Story Interview – July 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I am a Boston- based model with four years of experience in the fashion industry, having worked in Boston, New York, and Ibiza. Alongside modeling, I’m a licensed esthetician and full-time makeup artist with a passion for fashion, photography, creative direction, and content creation. As I continue building my presence through brand partnerships, I’m also working towards launching my own clothing/ makeup brand!
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Oh boy do you guys have all day? Haha. I’d say my biggest struggle was definitely navigating covid through my college years. I was an international student studying in Toronto at the time covid hit. I was only there for six months before those dreaded “two weeks” happened, but that turned into almost a year and an a half. Leaving all my belongings in canada. Everything I owned. I only packed up for “two weeks”. The first couple of days of Covid were really scary and very unpredictable being away from my family in another country. Had to go over my student visa about a billion times, watching the news everyday to know if they reopened the Canadian- American border, being denied entry into Canada, at the airport, when I had to go back and finishing my schooling, etc. When I did finally get back to school, I planned on living in Toronto full time and had just gotten two jobs on the side. Then my work visa got denied due to Covid, forcing me to leave the country, and start all over back in my home city. It was scary, very stressful, exhausting, and very up in the air. I would honestly do it all again in a heartbeat though if it meant experiencing Toronto again during my time there. It changed me as a person, and I’ll never forget that city.
What do people usually not know about you?
I’m very observant. I love making sure someone doesn’t feel left out of a conversation, no-one gets left behind, and everybody is included. I grew up extremely shy, which nobody believes me when I say, and that taught me to listen rather than act. There is a lot of power in observing how people act, react, etc. I love psychology, art history, fashion history, government, economics, etc. I also love photography, and I’m usually the picture taker of my friend group. I’ve always wanted to pursue a career in photography. Same goes for Music Production. I absolutely love the art and hardwork that goes into making songs. I took a music production course years ago,and absolutely fell in love with it.
What sets you apart from others?
I shine in my own way. I don’t let people’s thoughts dictate how I view myself. I know who I am to my core, and I am a serious person about my craft, but I also love to bring a light hearted, funny, joking vibe to every room I step in. Emotions are contagious from person to person. When you are happy, it can make somebody else happy or feel at ease. I feel like I could talk to anybody, and have a very meaningful conversation. My number one rule is BE KIND.
What are your upcoming major events?
What don’t I have coming up! From New York Fashion Week, to Toronto Fashion Week, I have some podcasts coming up giving out modeling advice, became an ambassador for the Red Sox, have had multiple brands reach out wanting to work with me, many shoots in New York coming up, same goes for Boston, balancing content creation with a full-time job, starting up my online career focusing on interviewing VIP people in Boston, working alongside Boston restaurants for content creation and food review, starting the lengthy process of creating my own product. Mama is busy!
What expert advice would you like to give?
BE KIND, LISTEN TO PEOPLE, AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR ABILITIES. Always be kind to every single person you are in a room with, introduce yourself to people, network, give out socials, etc. If you’re working on a set, greet everybody with your name, a good handshake, and always trade information. I get a lot of questions about how I network and how I go about maintaining connections alot, and I’d say the magic secret, and it sounds corny, but to believe you are worthy of networking yourself and your work. Half of the battle is believing you are worthy enough to put yourself out there, and believing you are worthy enough to be listened to and taken seriously. Sometimes my shy past can creep itself in and I definitely will need a quick bathroom breather, but get back up, take your time, and I promise it starts to pay off. Like I said before, emotions are contagious. If you give off the energy that you don’t believe in yourself, people will believe you.
