A versatile and accomplished creative professional, Neil D. Monte has built a career spanning storyboard and concept art, directing, producing, and professional touring drumming. While personal loss and early career struggles tested his resilience, those experiences helped shape his business discipline, professionalism, and commitment to delivering quality work on time and within budget. With several exciting projects ahead—including new episodes of Front Men, a supernatural World War II film, and a forthcoming music release—he continues to approach every opportunity with focus, collaboration, and a belief in following through on one’s commitments. His advice is simple yet powerful: work hard, be kind, stay focused, and remember that action is the antidote to anxiety.

How do you introduce yourself?
I am a focused, collected and passionate artist who does my best to serve others. As an artist, I work as a storyboard/concept artist for film, tv and graphic novels. I also work as a director/producer, most notably on Prime Video’s FRONT MEN political comedy satire and as a professional touring drummer.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Losing my father and my grandparents were probably the biggest blows to my sense of person, as I am from a close and loving family. These situations led to a lot of personal struggles including fear and loneliness which trickled into my professional life.
Work-wise, making sure I got paid was always a struggle earlier in my career. But that led me to develop business skills and earn a higher level of expertise where I now demand one-half of payments upfront and a signed ‘boiler plate’ agreement BEFORE I start any job. Written contracts are the way to go to ensure your client’s and your personal responsibilites and deadlines before the start of any gig so that both parties know upfront what is to be expected of one another.
What do people usually not know about you?
Most people do not know that I am usually a pretty good mimic. Wanna see?
What sets you apart from others?
I don’t look at others in any kind of a ‘competitive’ way. Each of us can bring something to the table in any job so the ol’ saying “The Best Man Wins” was always how I viewed it. If I do not land something that means that I was not meant for that particular gig and was meant for another which suits me more. Hell, I refer a lot of friends and colleagues for gigs whom I know would be a better fit than I.What I do bring to any job are a lifetime of skills and I have a good reputation for getting things done on time and under budget. I show up on time with a plan for execution. It is all about focus and commitment.
What are your upcoming major events?
I will be at Screamfest Opening Night in October to support them and any friends’ new film projects screening in the festival. I am also a producer on an upcoming WW2 supernatural film with my partners who have a large genre following. I will also be directing another episode of Front Men with supplemental ‘vertical’ series episodes to further develop the show’s characters. And I am playing live drum tracks on Hip-Hop Artist (and close friend) MC Shadow’s latest track ‘JUDGEMENT’ which will be coming out on the Warner/Chappell Label soon so do look out for it!
What expert advice would you like to give?
To quote Bill and Ted, “Be excellent to each other!” People like working with those whom they like. So if you are hard-working and KIND (without being a pushover, of course), you will get into friend/colleague loops of people who will refer you and keep you in mind. Also, once you COMMIT to something, follow through with it — do not blow it off or wait for something to happen because people move on. Remember, action is the antidote for anxiety!Stay focused too! And try not to fall into the partying rut.
