Colin Egglesfield As Cover Story Interview – July 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I introduce myself as an actor, author, speaker, entrepreneur, and communication coach, but underneath all of those titles, I see myself as someone who’s inspired to make a difference from the health and life challenges that I’ve been through as a 3x cancer survivor and having lived through the 9/11 tragedy that left me homeless. I’m grateful to have the opportunity simply to be introduced.
I have spent over 25 years in the entertainment industry working in film and television, and that experience taught me that communication is not just about words. It is about presence, courage, connection, and truth. Today, through my company Beyond Impact, I help leaders, entrepreneurs, speakers, coaches, and high-achievers overcome fear, tell their story powerfully, and communicate with confidence.
At this stage of my life and career, my mission is to help people stop hiding behind self-doubt and start showing up fully in their work, relationships, leadership, and purpose.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I have experienced many challenges that have shaped who I am. As I mentioned, I’m a 3x cancer survivor, and each diagnosis forced me to face fear, uncertainty, and the reality that life can change in an instant. Those experiences taught me that strength is not the absence of fear. Strength is choosing to keep moving forward while fear is still present.
I also lived through the tragedy of 9/11 in New York. That experience deeply impacted me and reminded me how fragile life is, how quickly everything can shift, and how important it is to live with intention.
In my acting career, I have faced rejection, uncertainty, comparison, and the emotional ups and downs that come with pursuing a creative dream. Hollywood can be an incredible teacher, but it can also test your identity. There were times when I questioned whether I was enough, whether I belonged, and whether I had what it took to keep going.
Those struggles became the foundation of my message. I now use everything I have been through to help others build resilience, find their voice, and turn their pain into purpose.
What do people usually not know about you?
People often know me from television, film, or public speaking, but what they may not know is that I have had to work through many of the same fears I now coach others through.
Even after years on camera and on stage, I understand what it feels like to doubt yourself, to worry about being judged, or to feel like you have to prove your worth. That is why my work is so personal to me. I do not teach confidence as a theory. I teach it because I have had to earn it through experience.
People may also not know how entrepreneurial I am. Beyond acting, I have built businesses, invested in real estate, developed coaching programs, launched creative projects, and worked with people across entertainment, leadership, media, and personal development. I have always been passionate about creating things that inspire people and help them live with more courage and impact.
What sets you apart from others?
I don’t think I’m in competition per se with other people in life. I see life more as showing up doing what you love to do with the people who you love to do that with and in the process of that, you’re going meet some amazing people and discover and create amazing opportunities. The ones that work out, I put my all into them and the ones that didn’t work out or that I wasn’t a part of is just part of the process. What sets me apart from someone else though who may be doing similar things as myself is the combination of Hollywood performance experience, real-life adversity, entrepreneurship, and a deep commitment to human transformation.
I’ve been loving this role outside of acting as a communication coach and there are many out there who teach presentation skills, but my background comes from more than two decades of being in front of cameras, on sets, in auditions, on stages, and in high-pressure rooms where presence matters. As an actor, you learn how to listen, connect, tell the truth, read energy, command attention, and make people feel something. Those are the same skills leaders, speakers, entrepreneurs, and coaches need today to be successful. This is where I have found a niche for myself and where I’ve been loving helping people who are great at what they do deliver their messaging with more confidence and impact.
At the same time, my life has given me a much deeper perspective. Surviving cancer 3x and navigating major personal and professional setbacks taught me that impact is not about looking perfect. It is about being real, being present, and being willing to use your story in service of others.
Through my communications consultancy, Beyond Impact, I bring together performance, storytelling, mindset, leadership, and purpose. I help people not only communicate better, but become more confident, authentic, and powerful in who they are.
What are your upcoming major events?
Right now, my major focus is speaking on more stages, leading workshops, coaching clients privately, and developing programs around my core message of “Own Your Moment.” This work is designed for anyone who wants to become more powerful on stage, on camera, in sales conversations, in leadership, or in everyday communication. I’m also inspired to expand Beyond Impact. My communication coaching and leadership development company. Through Beyond Impact, I help leaders, entrepreneurs, speakers, authors, coaches, and teams overcome the fear of public speaking, clarify their message, and deliver it with confidence and impact.
I am also growing The Beyond Impact Podcast, where I interview entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives, and changemakers about resilience, communication, personal growth, business, and creating meaningful impact.
In addition, I continue to act, produce, write, and build entrepreneurial ventures that align with my mission of helping people step into their voice, their story, and their purpose.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice is this: stop waiting until you feel ready. Most people believe confidence comes first and action comes second. In my experience, it is the opposite. Confidence is built through action, repetition, preparation, and the willingness to show up before everything feels perfect. Whether you are speaking on stage, starting a business, going after a dream, building a brand, or having an important conversation, your job is not to be flawless. Your job is to be present, prepared, and honest.
Your story matters. Your voice matters. Your experience matters. The things you have survived may be the very things someone else needs to hear in order to believe they can keep going. So my advice is to own your story, own your voice, and own your moment. The world does not need a perfect version of you. It needs the real version of you, fully expressed and fully radiating what you love.
