Selina Adjei As Cover Story Interview – August 2024 Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m a Ghanaian artist based in Switzerland, and I’m very outspoken. My music aims to inspire women to believe in themselves and connect with my lyrics, as I openly discuss the struggles of life.

How was your Childhood to Adulthood transition?

My childhood was wonderful; I grew up in Zurich, Switzerland, with a German mother and a Ghanaian father. I’m grateful for a safe childhood that allowed me to play outside rather than being glued to screens. I felt like an adult early on, moving to Lausanne at 18 to learn French, then to LA at 20, and finally to London at 22. I returned to Switzerland after eight months in London to start my career as an insurance advisor. I’ve done various things, including becoming a certified massage therapist and yoga teacher. I became a mom at 26.

What hardships did you face in your life?

I lost my dad when I was 21, which initially broke me. However, this experience led me to a deeper spiritual connection with myself, my ancestors, and God.

What do people usually not know about you?

While people know I’ve opened for big artists like Rema, Sarkodie, Ayra Starr, Stefflon Don, and Medikal, they might not know I’m now spending more time in Ghana to break into the Afrobeat scene, working with Ghanaian legends like Bisa Kdei and others.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

I’m very authentic. I embrace my sexy and sassy side, blending my European mindset with an African heart as a mixed girl.

What are your upcoming major events – Unforgettable Moments or products/services that you want to promote/inform?

Performing at the Medikal show in London was one of my favorite experiences. I was also booked for Ghana Party in the Park in 2023, but it got canceled. My history in London makes performing there particularly special for me; it’s my favorite city in Europe.

What are your food preferences and physical attributes?

I’m a fufu addict and could eat it every day! I love African, Jamaican, and Asian cuisine.

Your love life, relationships and family?

I have a 7-year-old daughter and am enjoying my freedom to focus on my music career while raising my princess. I have high standards in relationships, so I prefer to remain single and happy until I find someone who is better, smarter, more successful, and ready to serve a Queen.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Be yourself! Don’t listen to haters, but always be humble enough to accept honest feedback.
