Rashida Adegbite As Exclusive Cover Story – June 2023

How do you introduce yourself?

Rashida Adegbite: Hey there! My name is Rashida Adegbite, I came from West Africa, Nigeria  and raised in New York. I am a Healthcare Administrator and I am also the owner to My Virtual Works, LLC, a work from home virtual platform that assists independent contractors in finding clients from the comfort of their homes. I love fitness, reading and adventure. I love to travel and explore new cultures and people. I am very passionate about culturally accessible and improved healthcare outcomes in the BIPOC communities. In my free time, I enjoying hanging out with friends and family and I love mommy time with my 3 little ones!

Childhood to Adulthood – How was your transition from childhood to adulthood and what are the bad and good things you remember?

Rashida Adegbite: Transition to adulthood was harder than I thought it would be. After graduating high school, I knew I wanted a change of environment. After completing my undergrad, I relocated and I feel like for me, I made the switch into adulthood at this point. I was completing grad school with new responsibilities, uncertainties, all while balancing a social life. With the help of my newly growing family, my mother and friends, I was able to adjust and ease into my new life. I am truly grateful for my “village”.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Rashida Adegbite: Hmm… that would require a book or two! I don’t consider myself lucky, I am blessed, humble, and grateful. I have faced many challenges that did not bring me down nor did I let it determine who I was going to be. I always stayed true to myself and  I wake up every day like a new day ready  to make an impact and truly be me. I will write a book about them one day.

What do people usually not know about you?

Rashida Adegbite: True and funny story how I cured my lisping. I used to lisp when I was younger and I hated it so I would stand in front of a mirror and clench my teeth together and speak with my teeth closed to avoid lisping. I did it so much that it fixed my lisping. Sometimes, I still talk with my teeth closed.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

Rashida Adegbite: My walk of life is different than any other and just being me, sets me apart both professionally and in my personal life. Being a successful  Healthcare Admin means that I am showing empathy at all times as my patients’ lives are in my hands. It is a major responsibility that requires leadership and management expertise. I really enjoy learning new things and I am constantly improving myself in different areas of my life.  Personally, I am very intentional with who I am, my goals and everything else that I do. I make decisions that are important to me and true to who I am. It was a hard lesson to learn over the years as someone who loves to give, and I mean literally GIVE all aspects of me, so to learn and be in this new space of choosing intentionally who and what I am giving, is freedom and freedom is happiness.
