Melody Hill (Melly-Mel) As Cover Story Interview – April 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I am a proud mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur with deep roots in my community. I naturally step into the role of nurturer and leader—many see me as the heartbeat of the neighborhood, someone people can come to for guidance, support, and connection.

I move with spirit and authenticity—I don’t just believe in it, I embody it. My energy is real, and people feel that when they’re around me.

I’m a true people person with a natural gift for communication and connection. I know how to engage, uplift, and inspire others, and I bring a warm, positive presence wherever I go. I genuinely love seeing people happy, and I pour that same love and light into every interaction.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

The most painful hardships I’ve faced in life were the losses of my husband, Paul, and my mother, Charlene Brown. Losing my husband felt like my world turned upside down. We had a deep connection, and I felt in my spirit that his time was near. When he passed, it was devastating, but I held onto the love we shared and the strength I believe God placed in me to endure it. Even after 25 years, that love has never left me—it continues to carry me.

Losing my mother was another heartbreak that took my breath away. Her absence left a space in my life that words can’t fully explain. In those moments of grief, I often found myself needing to be outside, searching for peace and connection, holding onto the memories and the love we shared.

These experiences shaped who I am today. They taught me resilience, deepened my faith, and strengthened my connection to the love and energy that surrounds us. That’s why I carry the name “Spirit”—because I’ve learned to move forward while still honoring the love that lives on within me.

What do people usually not know about you?

People are often surprised to learn that I love to skate—it’s something that brings me joy and freedom. At my core, I’m a family person. I deeply love my children and grandchildren, and they mean everything to me.

What many people don’t realize is how much my children inspire me in their own unique ways. My daughter, Tristina, gives me the courage to go after anything I want in life. She shows me through her actions that no goal is too hard if you stay committed and believe in yourself.

My son, Terrell, reminds me that anything is possible. Watching him build a farm and grow a garden in the desert is proof that with vision, determination, and faith, you can create something beautiful anywhere.

If I had the resources, I would give back even more and help as many people as I could. That’s just who I am—someone who loves, supports, and believes in others.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is my spirit, my resilience, and my genuine love for people. I’ve been through deep loss and life-changing experiences, and instead of letting them break me, I allowed them to shape me into someone who leads with strength, compassion, and purpose.

I naturally connect with others—I have a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. My energy is real, and I bring light into spaces, whether it’s through conversation, support, or simply being present.

I’m also driven by purpose. I don’t just talk about helping people—I live it. Whether it’s through my family, my community, or my work, I pour into others and inspire them to believe in themselves.

What truly makes me different is that I don’t separate who I am from what I do—I lead with authenticity, faith, and heart in everything.

What are your upcoming major events?

My upcoming major projects are centered around storytelling, education, and community impact. I am currently working on several books, including one on autism from my daughter’s perspective and another from my grandson’s point of view. I’m also writing my personal story, along with a book focused on spirituality and self-awareness.

In addition, I am continuing my Spirit, Sun & Serenity series—I’ve completed book one and am now working on book two, with three more to follow.

One of my biggest goals is to launch my own spiritual-based school, creating a space for holistic learning and personal growth. Alongside that, I’m developing an app focused on spiritual education, including meal plans and an accompanying eBook.

Looking ahead, I am also co-planning a healing and wellness retreat with Sonya M, scheduled for 2027. This retreat will bring people together for transformation, connection, and spiritual growth.

What expert advice would you like to give?

The advice I would give is to never give up on your dreams. Speak your goals out loud, write them down, and take real steps toward making them happen. Vision is powerful, but it becomes real through consistency and action.

Stay grounded through meditation and reflection, and keep your faith at the center of your plans. When you move with both belief and discipline, you create a path that is not only meaningful, but sustainable.

Most importantly, trust the process. Growth doesn’t always happen overnight, but if you stay committed, focused, and aligned with your purpose, you will see your dreams come to life.
