How do you introduce yourself and profession?
Marina: My name is Marina, I am a very hard worker person that has come a long way in life. I was a doctor in Spain for many years but due to the difficulties that I had to face in Spain I stopped working and immigrated to the UK in 2014. I have faced many challenges in life, and I had to stay strong for the sake of my family. After many years of being a housewife in the UK I decided to become a model and turn my life around.
Childhood to Adulthood – How was the transition from your childhood into adulthood/teenage and what good and bad things you remember?
Marina: I had a good childhood, I was raised by two hard working and loving parents, when I was a child, I had an extensive family as I lived with my grandparents, my parents and my two siblings. I was a bright kid who was always interested in dancing and music, I went to ballet and piano classes. Overall, my childhood and my transition to my teenage years were wonderful days.
Struggle – What hardships you faced during your life?
Marina: I faced many hardships in life, I had to immigrate from Russia to Spain when I was young and because my husband is a Nigerian man I was faced with a lot of racism in Spain. As a mixed-race family, I faced discrimination and so did my husband and daughter. It was very difficult to find a job in Spain as a doctor, but when I did, it wasn’t a path of roses either, I faced discrimination all the time and that’s one of the main reasons why I had to immigrate to the UK with my family.
Things that people usually don’t know about you?
Marina: People don’t know that I’m quite sensitive and I worry about the people close to me, they assume that I am made of steal and that I am strong but sometimes I struggle too, and I make mistakes too.
