How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Lily Griffiths, I’m an Australian professional dancer, now based in New York. I also model, act, choreograph and direct movement for fashion shoots.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I have been blessed with the mindset of always focusing on the good. The discipline I earned from beginning ballet at 4 years old taught me how to overcome any mental battle. Something i’m currently struggling with is never feeling like i’m doing enough. Even though I physically couldn’t do more. I could be running a whole country and still feel like I need to be working harder.
What do people usually not know about you?
People don’t usually know that I lived in India studying yoga in an Ashram when I was 19. Life changing.
What sets you apart from others?
I do it all. Beyond dancing, modeling, acting, movement direction & choreography I can style, film, edit, design, do makeup and hair, mix music, write and paint. I think working in each area of the creative industry gives you a deeper respect for the effort involved and makes you more valuable on stage or on set. I have always had a really clear creative vision. I approach every project with so much respect for the art form & I think others can feel that too.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I will be performing at the iconic Verde restaurant which just opened a New York location. Then over the summer going to Europe to perform at their St Tropez restaurant plus some other really exciting venues! I also have some films coming out this year that I danced in while they filmed in Australia. I’m also currently creating a burlesque show.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Try everything. If you have even a little bit of interest in a section of an industry try it. You never know what it can lead to. Learn as many skills as you can. Always stay open and curious. Do it with your whole heart or not at all.
