Jennifer Valdes As Cover Story Interview – June 2025 Magazine Edition

Who is Jennifer Valdes?

My name is Jennifer Elizabeth Valdes. As a first–generation Hispanic American raised in a household of legal immigrants, my journey has been anything but ordinary. At 15. I left home to escape domestic abuse, uncertain of where life would take me. From sleeping in laundromats and park benches to enduring a series of abusive relationships, I unknowingly repeated cycles I thought I had escaped. For years, I dismissed my trauma, gaslighting myself into believing I was exaggerating, until I began healing and understanding the deep impact of my past. Despite the pain, I refused to let it define me. I became a single mother at 17, and the birth of my daughter shifted everything. My dreams of being a rock star turned into a need for stability and purpose. Inspired by the medical professionals in my family, I started as a caregiver, became a hospice nurse, and eventually rose to become the CEO of multiple healthcare organizations. Though some ventures failed, others flourished, leading to new opportunities still unfolding today.

Now, I am stepping into a new chapter, sharing my story and using my voice to uplift others. I created, “From Jen to Generations”, to spotlight the journeys of women who like me, have faced hardship but found the courage to reclaim their power and shape their futures. I aim to be a mental health advocate and a source of guidance, especially for survivors of domestic violence and young women struggling to see their worth.

Through this platform, I hope to inspire others to heal by confronting their past, nurturing their inner strength, and stepping into their destiny. No matter how broken one might feel, transformation is possible. I’m here for my daughter, and for generations to come.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in your career to be where you are?

Honestly, it’s been hard as hell at times. Before I even thought about having a career, I was just trying to survive day to day. I came out of a relationship where I wasn’t just hurt physically but completely broken mentally. I carried that damage into every part of my life. Some days, just showing up felt like a battle. I wasn’t building a business, I was fighting to believe I even deserved to have one. I battled severe anxiety, depression, and PTSD, things most people never saw when they looked at me. I’d smile, show up, push through, but behind closed doors, I was fighting panic attacks, sleepless nights, and that little voice that kept whispering, “you’re not good enough”. I lost opportunities because I doubted myself. I stayed silent in rooms where I should have spoken up. I trusted the wrong people because I didn’t trust myself yet. I hit financial rock bottoms that scared me. I burned out so badly sometimes that I didn’t know if I even wanted to keep fighting.

But somehow, a part of me always refused to quit. I kept choosing to get back up, even when getting up meant crawling. I made the hard decisions to cut out toxic people. I went to therapy even when it hurt more before it helped. I learned to take up space, even when I felt like shrinking. I still carry scars. I still have hard days, but I’m here because I fought myself for myself when no one else would. Every hardship taught me that success isn’t about having it all together. It’s about choosing yourself, especially on the days when you have nothing left. My greatest hardship is still my confidence in the fact that I do belong in certain rooms, also providing value and important information.

What do people usually not know about you?

What people don’t usually know about me is that my art is born long before it ever meets the world. It lives in silent spaces in the quiet hours where I study the voices of those who came before, where I let ancient colors, forgotten sounds, and hidden meanings settle into my skin. I am not just a maker; I am a translator. I take history’s whispers, the unseen textures of emotion, the unsaid parts of life, and I weave then into something you can see, hear and feel.

As a content creator, my work may move fast across screens, but its soul is slow, deliberate, and timeless. Every image, every soundbite, every project I release is stitched from a deeper place: a place shaped by years of learning, of honoring the roots of art, of understanding that creation isn’t just expression, It’s stewardship. I don’t just create content to fill space. I create to awaken something lost inside a modern world that often forgets how to listen.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

What truly sets me apart is my commitment to building both excellence and community. In the medical field, it’s easy to get caught up in metrics and outcomes, but I never forget that behind every chart is a human being who deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and vision. I’ve built my business with a philosophy that healing isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, spiritual, and relational too. I lead with empathy and innovation, blending clinical excellence with a deeply personal approach that many competitors simply don’t prioritize.

As a podcast host, my mission has always been to create a platform for women, by women, that amplifies not just success stories, but the real, unpolished journeys behind them. I don’t just interview guests; I build relationships, spark collaborations, and crate ripple effects that last long after the recording stops. Authenticity is my currency and in a world that often rewards surface level success, I choose depth, integrity and meaningful impact every single time.

In life what sets me apart is that I don’t separate who I am from what I do. My work, my passion, and my purpose are aligned. I measure success not just by what I accomplish, but by who I uplift along the way. That’s my true legacy.

What are your upcoming major events – Unforgettable Moments or products/services or projects that you want to promote/inform?

I’m incredibly excited about this next chapter of growth and impact. One of my biggest projects, “From Jen to Generations” — a movement, brand, and content platform dedicated to bridging wisdom, empowerment, and mental wellness across generations of women entrepreneurs. Through this, I’ll be offering inspiring interviews, mentorship content, and partnerships that fuel lasting change. I’m also expanding my podcast to feature a special new series focused not just on successful entrepreneurs, but also on mental health leaders, creative disruptors, and women breaking barriers across industries, with episodes airing twice a month.

These episodes will feature interviews, behind-the-scenes insights, educational talks, and authentic conversations around entrepreneurship, leadership, and mental health. It’s about bringing the heart of the podcast and the mission of From Jen to Generations into a visual, shareable platform where community and conversation can thrive. Additionally, I’m partnering with mental health organizations to co-create initiatives that spotlight emotional wellness in business and launching new PR collaborations with brands that champion female empowerment and social impact. Whether it’s through speaking engagements, content series, partnerships, or community events, everything I’m building is centered around lifting others while I climb, creating spaces where real conversations lead to real healing and real leadership.

What expert advice would you like to give?

First, believe in yourself even when no one else does — especially when no one else does. There were moments in my life when I had no safety net, no map, and no one cheering me on. Success wasn’t something handed to me — it was something I had to fight for, pray for, work for, and believe in even when it felt invisible. Second, never let your past define your future. Your story — the hardships, the heartbreaks, the survival — are not weights meant to hold you down. They are the steel you’re forging yourself from. Use them. Turn your pain into power, and your scars into stepping stones. Third, be willing to outwork your circumstances and outgrow your comfort zones. Success doesn’t come from staying where it’s safe — it comes from moving forward even when you’re scared, tired, or uncertain. It’s built one brave, messy, determined step at a time. Fourth, heal yourself as you build yourself. You can have all the ambition in the world, but without healing, it’s like building a mansion on a cracked foundation. Make your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being a non-negotiable priority. Success that costs you your peace is never true success. Finally, surround yourself with people who remind you who you are when you forget. Community is everything. Find mentors, sisters, and allies who lift you up, speak life into your dreams, and walk alongside you through every chapter — the wins and the battles. You were born capable. You were born worthy. Everything you need to succeed is already inside of you.
You just have to be brave enough to bet on yourself — again, and again, and again.
