Here is the Q&A session we had with Jay Siegan.
Jay Siegan As Cover Story Interview – July 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Jay Siegan, founder of Jay Siegan Presents. For over 25 years I’ve booked talent for high net worth individuals, corporate clients, and fundraising and philanthropic organizations, artists like Coldplay, Andrea Bocelli, Imagine Dragons, The Killers and quite literally thousands of others. More recently, I co-founded Super Nice Guys, the top third-party producer of comedy specials, alongside my partner and best pal, along with Genius + Poison, where we’re reimagining magic and mentalism as something cinematic and gritty. I live and breathe the living arts.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I didn’t take any traditional path. I cut high school and spent my time sorting records in stores on Haight Street in San Francisco, and that’s where I fell in love with the culture and history of rock and roll. I was a proud San Franciscan, and that city shaped everything about how I saw music. As a teen, my parents would take me to the Bay Area Music Awards (the “BAMMIES”) every year, and something about being in that room lit a fire in me. I didn’t want to be on stage, I wanted to be behind the scenes making it happen. I saw icons like Bill Graham, and wanted to be that. There was no formal education behind any of this, just a passion I couldn’t shake. That meant for years there was no real money in it. I built this business slowly, year after year, off nothing but instinct and stubbornness. Looking back, the lack of a conventional path wasn’t the hardship, it was the education.
What do people usually not know about you?
People know me as the guy who can get a headliner to a private party. What they don’t always know is how much of my time goes into fundraising. It’s been a real passion of mine, enough that the California State Assembly and Senate recognized the work. I’ve helped galas and fundraisers raise over $100 million collectively. That side rarely makes the trade headlines, but it’s some of the most meaningful work I do.
What sets you apart from others?
Most agencies represent artists. We represent the clients. That’s the whole model at Jay Siegan Presents, and it changes everything about how we operate. We’re not trying to move our own roster, we’re trying to find the right fit for whoever hired us. That’s how you end up booking Eddie Vedder for one client and Wu Tang Clan for another. We also live and breathe every client’s event until it’s actually done. That level of involvement builds real, enriched relationships with both our clients and the artists we work with, not transactional ones. We pay attention to details in a way I honestly can’t fathom other people in this business doing. And a lot of that comes down to loyalty. I’ve built my life around it, and I’m proud that people like Sarah Aldinger and Jordan Frease have been with me for over 25 years. That client-first model, and that level of care, is rare. I take great pride in knowing we have that.
What are your upcoming major events?
We’ve got a full slate of releases coming out on major streamers. On the comedy side through Super Nice Guys, that includes Patton Oswalt’s new special “Tea & Scotch” and a hilarious hour from comedy legend Janeane Garofalo. On the magic side through Genius + Poison, we’ve got specials coming from Blaise Serra, Nick Diffatte, and Jason Ladayne, among others. A huge favorite of mine is the wonderfully artful and quirky “Zabrecky Hour” by a genius performer Zabrecky, which is just a beautifully done one-man show by a truly incredible character. We’re excited to take up real space in the world of magic and get these extraordinary talents into people’s living rooms. It’s been a blast to work on.
What expert advice would you like to give?
This is a simple but critical one: I learned early on from people I looked up to that gratitude and kindness are wonderful and lift everyone up. I want everyone I work with, client, artist, vendors, to walk away from me feeling genuinely seen and heard, not just ‘handled’. My advice, in this business in life is to do your best to make others feel seen. I know how I feel when someone extends that to me, and I like to do the same to others.
