Jay Elle was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online Magazine and below is the Q&A session we had with her.
Jay Elle As Cover Story – January 2024 Edition (Swipe Left)
How do you introduce yourself?
The Empress of Music (lol), just kidding. I am the unapologetic, unforgettable Jay Elle Music.
Childhood to Adulthood – How was your transition from childhood to adulthood and what are the bad and good things you remember?
My transition was short. I moved away from my parents at 14 years old to live with my sister so when I became an adult, it didn’t necessarily feel like a transition into adulthood because I’ve been responsible for myself from a young age, it just that I started to take on more responsibilities as I got older. I can’t say anything was bad though. I had a loving family, hardworking parents and excitement. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY so its everything to do and to get into. We was lit for real lol. I did see a lot of things in the neighborhood and around me but I had a solid upbringing so it didn’t mess me up, it made me want better, want more.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Like i said, I grew up in the hood so most people would look at that as a hardship but I feel like those types of experiences develop character and even though we was in the hood I never missed a meal, I had nice clothes, I loved learning so for me it was an experience that shaped my mind on what I wanted to do and wanted to be. The biggest hardship for me though was losing my dad. He passed away a couple years ago and that was tough because he’s my bestie lol. But even that taught me alot about myself and about life and how I navigate it so its a silver lining in everything.
What do people usually not know about you?
People usually don’t know that I’m a loner. I’m an extroverted introvert so I enjoy being in social settings, celebrating and having fun with people and I can definitely work a crowd but I prefer to be solo most of the time or like with my person if when I’m in a relationship you know? You know they say the most beautiful people are the most lonely lol.
What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?
I just make music that I like. I don’t try to make myself fit into any genre you know? I let other people place my music in a genre. That’s their job. I’m always influenced by the music and experiences around me but I don’t try to sound like anybody other than me and that’s what a superstar does, carve out their own lane so that’s what I’m doing.
What are your upcoming major events?
A lot of things are in the making right now so I can’t say too much on those things but I did a movie that was released at the end of last year so more to come for me on the acting side. I’m working on new music for sure and setting up to do some major shows so ya’ll just gotta stay tuned and stay locked in to Jay Elle Music to see everything unfold.
What are your food preferences and physical attributes?
My favorite cuisine is probably Mexican. Its a toss up between that and seafood but I’m a super foodie period so if it taste good I’m here for it.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice is stay focused, stay driven, and keep your mind positive. And remember there’s no substitution for hard work.
