Jaqueline Fleming is an award-winning actress and producer who has navigated both personal and professional challenges throughout her journey. Growing up with an unstable home life and frequent separation from her siblings, she later faced the rejection, uncertainty, and highs and lows that come with an acting career. Her unique perspective comes from understanding both sides of the camera, combining her experience as an actress with her knowledge of producing and developing projects. With six films forthcoming and projects moving through the festival circuit, including the psychological crime thriller ON PAPER, Fleming continues to encourage creatives to stay prepared, connected to their faith and purpose, and confident in their own voice.

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m Jaqueline Fleming, an award winning actress and producer.

Struggle — What hardships have you gone through in life?

Personally, just a very unstable upbringing. Moved around a lot and had a lot of seperation from siblings due to repeated divorces. 

Professionally, The rejection, the waiting, and the high and lows that come with being an actress. 

What do people usually not know about you?

People are usually surprised to learn that I’m actually very shy. I know a lot of people and can be social, but it takes me a little while to warm up.

I’m also extremely germ conscious, so I’m usually the person with sanitizer wipes everywhere I go. I have a sensitivity to small noises. I notice tiny sounds that most people don’t hear.

I love water, nature, quiet moments, and I’m not married and don’t have children. I also love praying, dreaming & building at the kitchen table, which is where the name for my production company came from, At the kitchen table.

What sets you apart from others?

I understand both sides of the camera. As an actress, I understand character, vulnerability, preparation, stamina and what it takes to deliver on and off the set. As a producer, I understand the larger responsibility of building the project, protecting the vision, assembling the right team, and seeing it through from development to distribution.

What are your upcoming major events?

I have six films coming out and projects moving through the festival circuit. One of the projects I’m especially proud of is ON PAPER, a psychological crime thriller that I co star in and produced through our production company, At The Kitchen Table that I share with my producing partner, T, Bankolé.

What expert advice would you like to give?

For actors, never stop working on your craft and never allow one person’s opinion to define how you see yourself. This business will test your confidence, so your foundation has to be I am enough. Auditions, bookings and roles do not decide that.

For producers, learn the entire process. Producing is not just having an idea. You have to understand development, financing, production, post production, marketing, and distribution. Surround yourself with people who are strong where you are not.

And no matter which side of the industry you are on, stay ready. Opportunities can come quickly, and preparation is what allows you to meet them. Most importantly, stay connected to your faith, your purpose, and your own voice and surround yourself with individuals who champion you!
