Dr. Meleeka Clary As Exclusive Cover Story – July 2023
How do you introduce yourself?
Dr. Meleeka Clary: Dr. Meleeka Clary.
Childhood to Adulthood – How was your transition from childhood to adulthood and what are the bad and good things you remember?
Dr. Meleeka Clary: I remember when I was in school, I was bullied a lot because I wore glasses. I was perceived as different because all the other kids pursued a particular fashion that was considered cool and somewhat hip. For someone who wore glasses they were immediately labelled as being nerdy or extremely peculiar. Let me tell you, being nerdy is not a bad thing, it is a way of life that some people fail to comprehend.
I started the entertainment industry at age 13years old. I enjoyed acting, modeling, and dancing. However, as I got older as an adult, I was being taken advantage of regarding sexual invitations more than once. So, I stopped for 16 years. Therefore, what led me to come back to the entertainment industry that was good was because I can use my voice as a tool to help the voiceless and powerless. I enjoyed being a writer and director because I have the power to change the story. As well as being an actress I can be someone else for the moment. I love pretending and storytelling.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Dr. Meleeka Clary: I wrote a movie called “Three Corners of deception”. The movie is based on true events. For instance, I went through a divorce, but the process causes more problems than just 2 individuals going to court for a divorce. My divorce was very pollical and mentally abusive from the judicial system. My mission was to expose these judicial officers that used their judicial powers to mentally abuse me during my divorce.
I had to fight back because of my children so they could understand what their rights are as civilians. I needed to show I am a strong woman of color but a human being first. I am not intimidated by the status or titles one possesses because everyone is a human being. The main character in the movie is a survivor of “abuse of discretion” from the court system.
For instance, I have been mistreated by the judicial system in Hamilton County Superior Courts in Noblesville, Indiana for being a Black woman with a voice. I have experienced discrimination of gender, race, and occupation. The treatment of bias and mental abuse was so bad that I had to do something, so this would not happen to another person like me by these judicial officers of the law. Again, I written a movie about my lifechanging experience called “Three Corners of Deception” based on true events.
