Despoina Lavda As Cover Story Interview – June 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Despoina Lavda. A Greek actor, singer, model, and writer. I was born and raised on the island of Paros, and that’s probably the reason why the sea always feels like home. My artistic journey began with playing the piano and then classical singing. Over time, that evolved into a passion for storytelling through acting, movement, and voice – always chasing transformation and truth.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

For a long time, one of my biggest struggles was not knowing exactly who I was or what I wanted. I spent years pursuing classical singing. A dream that, in many ways, belonged more to my father than to me. I’m grateful for everything it taught me, but by the time I was 21, I realized I had to let go of the path others had imagined for me and start carving out my own.

What do people usually not know about you?

Since I was very young, I’ve had this deep urge to live many lives. I wanted to do everything, learn every language, travel the world, explore every profession. I felt like time would never be enough. It’s funny because that’s exactly what acting allows me to do — but I didn’t even consider becoming an actor until my mid-20s.

What sets you apart from others?

A singing teacher once told me I was “hypersensitive” and I need to change, and for a long time, I saw that as a flaw. I thought it made me weak, something I needed to fix or toughen up. But over the years, I’ve come to understand that this sensitivity is actually my strength.

What are your upcoming major events?

I just signed with Enorama Talent Agency and Thanasis Psilopoulos, and I’m beyond happy and excited to start this new chapter! Right now, I’m focusing on training, staying ready, and building my craft every day. While I don’t have a specific project I can announce just yet, I’m also writing my own scripts and developing stories that speak to me on a personal and artistic level.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Whatever you want to do in life you have to absolutely love it. Not just the dream of it, but the process. You have to be willing to give 1000%, over and over again, even when no one’s watching, even when it’s exhausting or uncertain. People tend to forget that the “overnight success” is usually years in the making.
