Carrie Michelle As Cover Story Interview – August 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m Carrie Michelle — a music executive, producer, event curator, and creative. I currently serve as Head of A&R for Rolling Out Music Group, where I work with artists on everything from distribution and development to rollout strategy and creating opportunities for them to be seen and heard.

Outside of A&R, I work across media, podcasts, live events, artist relations, and content production. I’ve always been someone who wears multiple hats, but everything I do connects back to one thing: creating platforms and opportunities for talented people while continuing to build my own brand and legacy.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

My journey hasn’t been a straight line. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to keep going when things don’t happen on the timeline I imagined for myself. I’ve had to navigate disappointments, setbacks, people not always seeing the vision, and moments where I had to figure things out without having all the resources or answers.

I’ve also had to learn the difference between being busy and actually building something. When you’re ambitious and you have multiple talents, it’s easy to pour yourself into everybody else’s vision and forget about your own. I’ve had to learn boundaries, patience, consistency, and how to trust myself.

Those experiences made me more resilient. I’ve learned that sometimes the opportunity you’re waiting for isn’t coming because you’re supposed to create it yourself.

What do people usually not know about you?

People see me working, producing events, working with artists, doing A&R and constantly putting things together, so they probably assume I’m always in “business mode.” But I’m actually very creative and intentional about what I do.

A lot of what people see publicly starts as an idea in my head. I enjoy taking something from a conversation or an idea and turning it into an actual event, campaign, show, rollout or opportunity.

I also think people may not realize how much I genuinely care about artist development. I’m not interested in just finding a song that’s hot for the moment. I like figuring out who an artist is, what makes them different, and what we can build around them that has longevity.

What sets you apart from others?

My versatility.

I understand the artist side, the business side, the media side and the event side. I can sit in an A&R meeting and talk about records and artist development, then turn around and produce an interview, develop an event concept, create a rollout strategy, coordinate media, or figure out how we turn that moment into content.

I’m also a connector. I naturally see how people, brands, artists, media and opportunities can fit together.

Most importantly, I’m a builder. I don’t just want to be in the room — I want to help create the room, bring the right people into it and make sure something meaningful comes out of it.

What are your upcoming major events?

There’s a lot happening right now. I’m continuing to build with Rolling Out Music Group through our artist development and distribution initiatives, while also producing experiences that connect music, media and culture.

We’re developing more artist-focused events, interviews, showcases and networking opportunities, including our Cover Conversations platform and other Rolling Out Music programming.

I’m also continuing to expand my work in podcasting, live-event production and artist development. This next chapter for me is really about taking everything I’ve been building individually and connecting it into a larger platform.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Stop waiting until everything is perfect before you start.

A lot of people have great ideas, but they spend so much time waiting for the perfect team, budget, opportunity or cosign that somebody else ends up executing the idea first.

Start with what you have. Build relationships before you need them. Treat people well. Follow up. Be consistent. And understand that your reputation will walk into rooms before you do.

For artists specifically, I would say don’t focus only on going viral. Build something people can believe in after the viral moment is over. The song matters, but your story, work ethic, branding, relationships and consistency matter too.

And finally, learn the business behind whatever industry you’re trying to enter. Talent may get people’s attention, but understanding the business helps you build longevity.
