Alison Maloni As Cover Story Interview – October 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Alison Maloni. I help founders, executives, and entrepreneurs build personal brands through storytelling that creates opportunities. As a personal branding strategist, keynote speaker, author, news contributor, and anchor, I’ve spent more than 20 years helping leaders communicate with confidence, tell stories that build trust, and become the face and voice of their businesses. But my most important job is being a mom of three wonderful daughters.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I lost my mom at the age of four to Cancer. I was then raised by my grandparents before eventually being adopted by my aunt and uncle. As a child, I struggled with an eating disorder and spent years questioning my self-worth.
As an adult, I went through a divorce, became a single mom to three daughters, and had to rebuild my life and career from the ground up. There were times I had almost nothing financially, and my business almost collapsed, but those experiences taught me resilience, faith, and the importance of betting on yourself before anyone else does.
What do people usually not know about you?
That while I appeared confident on camera, I struggled with my self-worth for a long time. But through a lot of therapy and prayer I have been able to gain the confidence I never thought I could have. Also, when I was nine years old I would come home from school, read our local newspaper and write TV news scripts in my notebook. I would then dress up and pretend to put on a newscast. I would do that every single day and who knew years later I would be doing that in a real studio.
What sets you apart from others?
I don’t create brand videos. I help founders become the storyteller of their brand. As a journalist and content creator, I have a trained eye for what captures attention and builds trust on camera. I help founders move beyond the polished “About Us” videos that often feel scripted and disconnected. Instead, I help them tell the real story behind their business, their why, their struggles, their expertise, and the passion that led them to create their product or service. Those are the stories people remember, and they’re the stories that turn viewers into customers.
My background as a journalist allows me to understand what audiences—and are really looking for. I help people uncover the stories they already have, communicate authentically, and build lasting credibility.
I also practice what I teach. I’m still working in the media, creating content, speaking, writing, and building my own personal brand every day. My clients aren’t getting theory—they’re getting real-world experience.
What are your upcoming major events?
This is such an exciting time. I’ve been coaching and consulting, but now I’m going to businesses to meet with founders and help them tell stories through video they can use on social media. Think of it as a combination of a TV segment and content creation. People don’t want polished long videos with corporate music. They want to hear the founders’ stories authentically and see the business through a different lens. I am also excited to be speaking at the Cape Cod Women’s Association Women’s Symposium on October 6th. I’ll be speaking about the power of no and how to become unstoppable through boundaries.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Some of the biggest opportunities in my career came about because I raised my hand before I felt fully qualified. Even if you are scared, do it anyway. We are never going to be completely ready. Your story is one of your greatest business assets, but it only creates opportunities if you tell it. Show up consistently, provide value, and don’t underestimate the power of building trust over time.
