Darla Pursley As Cover Story Interview – September 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Darla Pursley. I’m an entrepreneur, content creator, real estate investor, and Certified Interpersonal Hypnotherapist. More than anything, I consider myself someone who has continually chosen growth and transformation.

My life has taken me through many different chapters, and each one has shaped the woman I am today. I’ve built businesses, invested in real estate, created a large social media platform, and now stepped into a purpose that feels much deeper to me: helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves through hypnotherapy.

My faith is also a huge part of who I am. I believe God can use every part of our story—even the painful parts—to lead us toward our purpose.

Struggle — What hardships have you gone through in life?

My story definitely wasn’t picture-perfect. I experienced significant hardship and instability growing up and was eventually adopted at 13 years old. Those experiences affected me deeply, but they also taught me resilience, independence, and compassion.

As an adult, I’ve had to work through childhood trauma, grief, loss, unhealthy patterns, and major life transitions. One of the things I’m most proud of is celebrating 10 years of sobriety. That journey changed my life.

I also lost my mother in 2025, which brought an entirely different kind of grief and perspective. Losing someone you love changes you. It made me think even more deeply about how short life is and what I want mine to stand for.

Instead of allowing my past to define my future, I’ve worked hard to heal from it. That process is actually part of what led me to hypnotherapy and eventually inspired me to become a hypnotherapist myself.

What do people usually not know about you?

Social media often shows the glamorous parts of someone’s life, but there is a very sensitive, spiritual and introspective side of me that people don’t always see.

I love being in nature, practicing yoga and meditation, spending time with my dogs, going to church, traveling, and having quiet moments where I can reconnect with myself.

People may also be surprised by how much inner work I’ve done behind the scenes. I first experienced hypnotherapy personally years before becoming certified. It became part of my own journey of understanding my childhood, rebuilding my confidence, changing patterns and becoming more intentional about the woman I wanted to be.

What sets you apart from others?

I think what sets me apart is that I’m willing to reinvent myself.

I’ve lived very different chapters of life, and I’m not ashamed of them. I don’t believe your past disqualifies you from becoming someone new. I believe you can learn from it, grow through it and use those experiences to help other people.

I also bring real-life experience into the work I do today. When I talk about transformation, healing, sobriety, confidence or rebuilding yourself, those aren’t just concepts I’ve studied—they’re things I’ve personally had to walk through.

My goal isn’t perfection. It’s evolution.

What are your upcoming major events?

This chapter of my life is centered around continuing to build Serenity Hypnotherapy, expanding my digital presence and creating meaningful content around personal growth, healing, mindset and transformation.

I’m also developing more hypnotherapy resources and experiences that allow me to reach people beyond traditional one-on-one sessions.

Personally, I’m continuing to travel, grow my businesses and explore opportunities that align with the woman I’m becoming. I’m excited about allowing my audience to see more of the authentic journey—not simply the finished product.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Your past does not have to become your identity.

So many people unconsciously carry old experiences, beliefs and versions of themselves into their present lives. Real change begins when you’re willing to become aware of those patterns and intentionally create something different.

Give yourself permission to evolve. Protect your peace. Pay attention to what you repeatedly tell yourself. Surround yourself with people who support your growth. And don’t underestimate what can happen when faith is combined with consistent action.

You don’t have to become who the world expects you to be. You can become who you know you’re capable of being.
