Ali Bond, founder and publisher of Audacious Magazine, is an entrepreneur, mother, storyteller, and advocate for celebrating women of substance and courage. Her journey has been shaped by significant challenges, including the difficult closure of a successful business after 21 years and a major cancer journey that taught her resilience, gratitude, and the importance of embracing life’s changing seasons. Raised in remote Papua New Guinea by missionary parents, Bond developed an adventurous spirit and a unique perspective that continue to shape her approach to life and business. Today, she is focused on expanding Audacious Magazine globally and launching Audacious Vodka, while inspiring others to remember that difficult chapters are temporary and there is always an opportunity to turn the page.
Here is the Q&A session we had with Ali Bond.
Ali Bond As Cover Story Interview – September 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Ali Bond, the proud founder and publisher of Audacious Magazine — a print-only publication created to celebrate women of substance, courage and extraordinary stories. I’m a mother, an entrepreneur, a storyteller and probably living proof that you can reinvent yourself more than once.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Life has certainly given me a few chapters I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen.
I built and scaled a successful business in my twenties, and 21 years later made the incredibly difficult decision to place that business into voluntary liquidation. That was a huge personal and professional loss, and one that taught me an enormous amount about identity, failure, humility and starting again.
Then came a significant cancer journey — treatment, major surgery and five years of surveillance. Today, I’m incredibly grateful to say there is currently no evidence of active disease.
Those experiences have fundamentally changed the way I look at life. I don’t take the good seasons for granted anymore, and I also know that the difficult ones are rarely the end of the story.
What do people usually not know about you?
Probably my childhood. I was raised very remotely in Papua New Guinea by missionary parents. It was an extraordinary way to grow up and very different from the life I lead today.
I think those early years gave me a natural sense of adventure, independence and perspective. You learn very quickly that the world is much bigger than your own little corner of it.
What sets you apart from others?
Resilience and courage.
I’m prepared to start again. I’m prepared to take the risk. And I’m prepared to keep going when something doesn’t turn out the way I imagined it would.
I also think I have an ability to see possibility where other people might see an ending. That has probably been one of the greatest gifts of my life.
What are your upcoming major events?
The next chapter for Audacious Magazine is global growth. We’re expanding beyond New Zealand and Australasia, with a longer-term vision of taking the magazine into Europe and other international markets, and eventually printing in different countries and languages.
Then there’s Audacious Vodka, launching in January 2027 — an Audacious cranberry vodka, inspired and infused in New Zealand. It feels like another wonderfully bold extension of the brand.
The bigger vision is really about building Audacious into a global lifestyle brand while always keeping storytelling and extraordinary women at its heart.
What expert advice would you like to give?
“This too shall pass.”
I genuinely live by that.
When you’re going through a challenging season, it can feel as though it will last forever. It won’t. There will be something on the other side of it, and very often there is a lesson, a redirection or a strength you couldn’t see while you were in the middle of it.
And equally, when you’re flying high, enjoy it. Be grateful for it. Because life moves in seasons. There will be plateaus, there will be dips, and there will be rises again.
I’ve learned not to define my life by one chapter.
Turn the page.
