Kia Todd As Cover Story Interview – July 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Kia Todd, and I’m the founder and CEO of Kia Todd Talent Agency, a licensed California talent agency dedicated to discovering, developing, and representing exceptional actors. My passion is helping talent build long-term careers in film, television, and streaming while advocating fiercely on their behalf. For me, success isn’t just about booking jobs, it’s about building lasting careers and changing lives.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has come with its share of challenges. Building a talent agency from the ground up required sacrifice, perseverance, and faith. I’ve balanced family responsibilities while growing a business in one of the most competitive industries in the world. There have been moments of uncertainty, disappointment, and setbacks, but every obstacle strengthened my determination. Those experiences taught me resilience and gave me an even greater appreciation for every success my clients achieve.

What do people usually not know about you?

People also see the red carpets, premieres, and photos with celebrities, but what they don’t see is why I’m there. I’m in those rooms building relationships, making introductions, and advocating for my clients. Every event is an opportunity to create connections that could lead to the next audition, booking, or career-changing opportunity. Behind every negotiation and every booking is someone who genuinely wants to see her clients succeed, not just professionally, but personally.

What sets you apart from others?

I believe you can be a powerhouse in business and still show up with style and confidence. I’m often told people assume I’m the talent when I walk into a room and I smile because it reminds me that presence matters. But once the conversation starts, they quickly realize I’m there to champion my clients. I use every room I enter, every relationship I build, and every opportunity I create to open doors for the people I represent.
At the end of the day, my clients know they have someone who is prepared, passionate, and fully invested in helping them build lasting careers.

What are your upcoming major events?

This year continues to be an exciting one for Kia Todd Talent Agency. Several of our clients have projects premiering on major television networks, streaming platforms, and in theaters, and we’re continuing to create opportunities for both emerging and established talent.

One of the highlights I’m especially excited about is Cornell Young IV making his series debut as Shaquille in the highly anticipated A Different World spinoff premiering this September. Another exciting milestone is Troy Brookins, who is a founding partner of Microhouse Films, a new mobile-first vertical storytelling platform launched alongside Taye Diggs, Autumn Federici, Shelby Stone, and James Black. It’s exciting to see him helping shape the future of digital entertainment from both the creative and business side.

I’m also incredibly proud of Corey Mekell, who recently completed the national Broadway tour of Ain’t Too Proud portraying David Ruffin and is now being considered for a major feature film role and the rise of my clients Doral Miller, Amaris, SaRaya Paris Johnson, and so many more.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Success doesn’t happen overnight. Stay prepared, remain professional, and never stop investing in your craft. Talent may open the door, but character, consistency, and relationships are what keep you in the room.

Stay genuine, keep your faith, and don’t let fear or self-doubt stop you from pursuing your dreams. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, grow, and come back stronger. Treat others with the same respect and kindness you hope to receive because your reputation will often speak before you do.

Most importantly, never give up. The opportunities meant for you will come if you continue to put in the work, stay ready, and trust the process. Your journey may not look like anyone else’s, but that doesn’t mean you’re not exactly where you’re supposed to be.
