How do you introduce yourself?
Hello I am Hawa Abdul the CEO and owner of Hawa Cosmetics.
What hardships did you go through in your life?
I have loads of stories to tell on struggles let’s see…. Well to start off opening up my first Makeup Boutique it Fort Greene Brooklyn wasn’t easy. I was sooo excited I opened up my store under a Sublease “ and didn’t read the fine print on that and was taken advantage of. The person who sublease me the store was taking all of my money and not paying the rent.
What do people usually not know about you?
What people may not know about me is although I seem like a person who’s at all the events and I’m out. I really pick wisely and choose events to go to. Other wise I stay home most of the time. Cuddling up to my pooch or partner.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is I have over 30 years of makeup experience professionally. Ive worked in a lot of the major department stores in Cosmetics such as Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Cos Bar, Barney New York and the Carlyle Hotel doing makeup for major cosmetic brands. So I have an eye on what clients are looking for.
What are your upcoming major events?
My upcoming major events that coming up are working with more Amazing clients and teaching makeup techniques and the business to NYU students and Empire Beauty School here in New York, also working with a womens domestic violence shelter.
What would be your expert advice?
Some expert advice i would love to share would be, don’t be afraid to go through the process. Every step you take builds on a greater you, the good and the bad.
