Katie Taylor As Cover Story Interview – January 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Katie Taylor and I am the owner of Taylor Casting at People Factory Inc I have worked as a Casting Director for almost thirty years and have cast more than 2500 projects across beauty, automotive, fashion, hospitality, tech, in commercials, print, television and feature films. I am known for high concept and unconventional casting that brings real human stories to life. I love what I do because I get to champion talent and help directors and photographers tell stories that feel honest and memorable.

Struggle. What hardships have you gone through in life?

I have spent most of my professional life in an industry that can be unpredictable and at times unfair. I have navigated burnout, industry politics, casting corruption, betrayal, financial pressures, and the challenges of raising children while running a busy casting company. I have had to rebuild more than once and I have learned how to stand on my own feet even when situations felt impossible. These experiences shaped my work ethic, my compassion for talent, and my protective instincts around fairness and transparency in this business.

What do people usually not know about you?

People often do not know that I have a strong creative and adventurous side outside of casting. When I am not working, I am usually in my garden. I run the beautification committee at Ocean View Farms and my backyard is filled with more than one hundred varieties of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs, along with a backyard chicken coop that makes me very happy. I am also a mom of two daughters and completely committed to giving them a life filled with adventure, nature, and art.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

I have been in casting for almost 30yrs, and what guides me is a genuine respect for people and for the work. I try to approach every project with curiosity instead of ego, and I focus on finding honesty in the faces and stories I bring forward. I often source talent from social media and cast people who have never acted or modeled before, which keeps everything fresh and human. I also care a lot about keeping the process ethical and clear for everyone involved because integrity matters to me. My goal is always to find someone who feels real, relatable, and right for the story, rather than someone who simply fits a trend.

What are your upcoming major events or products and services that you want to promote or inform?

The best place to keep up with me is my Instagram and my Instagram stories. I regularly post casting notices for real people and I love bringing unexpected humans into the spotlight. I have a few recent projects that I am excited to share once they are released. One of them involved a nationwide search for people who share the name Jeffrey Epstein for a comedy based commercial which might be one of the wildest and funniest casting searches I have ever run. I always have something surprising in the works, so keeping an eye on my socials is the easiest way to catch what is coming next.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Protect your integrity. Do not let desperation or fear push you into agreements that do not honor your worth. Learn the actual rules of the industry because the right knowledge saves you from being taken advantage of. For talent, show up prepared, respectful, and grounded. For parents, trust your instincts. For clients, trust the casting process and allow real people to shine. When everyone respects their lane, the work becomes beautiful, efficient, and meaningful.
