How do you introduce yourself?
My name is mikO Tolliver, Creative Producer and Multimedia Storyteller and I play guitar.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Folks thought I was weird growing up. I didn’t find out until college that I’m just really artsy. I didn’t come from a family that was very artsy or connected in art communities or industries. So my artist career has been a lot of work on my own. I struggle with being talented and passionate but not very resourced. So it’s been hard to build community to expand and achieve all my goals.
What do people usually not know about you?
I have a VERY active imagination. As a kid I was a huge daydreamer but even now as an adult, I still think so much about ideas, life, people, things. And my thoughts are very visual.
What sets you apart from others?
I am persistent and genuinely optimistic. I want to be my most authentic self at all times. I try to be open minded a lot too.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I am finishing up a short film from my “Section 8” web series and excited to release it.
What expert advice would you like to give?
“The power of the mind is not a joke.” Yes, that’s a line from a Drake song but I believe it’s real and it’s true. Keep trucking and believing that your heart will lead you to where you’re supposed to be. If you really want something, you will find a way to make it happen.
