Dan Robins As Cover Story Interview – December 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m Dan Robins: a British actor, producer, and first-assistant director based in London. I trained in screen and stage acting – including an intensive for film & TV at City Academy, London, and earlier with Rob Brownstein at An Actors Space.  I have over 50 production credits and – equally important – I’m building a community with a few other very talented filmmakers: what we simply call the “London Film Club”, bringing together filmmakers, actors, and crew who believe you don’t need money or powerful connections to create real work.

What hardships have you gone through in life?

When I started, I had no money behind me – no legacy, no inside help. I came from Hastings, moved to London, trained, kept showing up even when work was sparse. There were small roles, long days, uncertainty, struggle to make ends meet. But I believed in art and in community. I had to trust that talent, grit and collaboration could open doors – and slowly, they did. That journey taught me resilience, humility, and respect for every person on set, no matter their title.

What do people usually not know about you?

Most don’t know I’m as invested behind the camera as in front of it. I don’t just act – I produce, I assist direct, I help write and put projects together. I love the craft of filmmaking holistically, not just chasing a big acting credit. Also – I’m deeply committed to helping others: I genuinely believe success isn’t real unless it lifts up others around you. The London Film Club exists because I want to give others the chance I wish I had at the start.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart isn’t just skills or ambition – it’s mindset. I come from nothing in this industry, so I value every opportunity, respect every role, and understand that genuine collaboration is a superpower. I care about people, not just projects. I’m versatile – acting, producing, assisting direction – which means I understand the pressures from all sides, and I work to pull teams together rather than just take a spotlight. I believe in lifting others while climbing myself.

Upcoming major events?

I’m working on a few projects with the goal of presenting them at festivals – including a project I’ve been steering called Take the Fall, alongside very passionate filmmakers, Paul Leon, Harry Vinall and Jermaine Malcolm. Meanwhile, the London Film Club is expanding: more networking, workshops, screen-tests, and film opportunities for emerging actors and filmmakers. I expect to announce new collaborations, screenings, and possibly a festival-run in the coming months. If you care about grassroots film – this is something to watch.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Don’t wait for permission. In this industry – as in life – if you wait for ideal conditions, you may never start. Learn your craft, build your network, collaborate, stay humble, and treat every opportunity – even the smallest – as a stepping stone. Embrace all aspects of filmmaking: acting, producing, helping on set. Support others. Success is rarely a solo journey. And above all: show up. Every day. Consistently.
