Sofia Manolesco As Cover Story Interview – November 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I’ve been working in the Fitness Industry as a Fitness Coach and Aerobic Instructor since 1999. During my professional career I developed a wide range of skills which enable me to design Fitness Programs tailored to fit the unique individual requirements of my students. From novices to fitness enthusiasts, I provide personalized training techniques which are result oriented while following safety protocols and the promotion of healthy lifestyles easy to maintain. On occasion I work in conjunction with Physical Therapists and physicians in order to rehabilitate patients after surgery or a health crisis. Incorporating a Mind, Body and Soul approach, I teaches my students how to connect and take ownership of their machine, understand the mechanical aspect of movement as well as the importance of positive, constructive thinking in order to connected with the intuitive healing that comes from the Soul.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I was born in Romania during Ceausescu’s dictatorship. My family fled for freedom when I was eleven years old. All we could take were two suitcases so I know what it’s like to start from scratch. The journey from my childhood to my American Dream has been extraordinarily colorful, with struggles, dramas, adventures and success. Living in various countries, adapting to cultures, living in different languages, having to navigate immigration, lack of resources, flying without a safety net, it’s all part of who I am, part of my understanding of the world. I have a deep desire to be of service so my work reflects this principle. It’s not the war stories that define us, it’s the lingering effect of first hand experience on the frontlines of life.
What do people usually not know about you?
People are often surprised when they hear me speak French. I am fluent in French, Romanian and English, but because I started learning French a very young age, when I speak French I sound French. They’re also surprised at how much weight I can push at the gym. Training hard with heavy weights is by far the best thing anyone can do for their health. I say “heavy” but this is something everyone can determine for themselves. What is hard for me may not be hard for you. Challenging weight lifting (with good form for safety and results), is the best thing anyone can do for themselves.
What sets you apart from others?
Truly appreciating someone’s uniqueness comes from witnessing the results of their efforts. We’re all unique individuals in our own way, which is why my fitness programs are tailored according to specific requirments. My personalized fitness programs require a psychological approach as well as a physiological one. My students are not just unique bodies, they also have unique skills that can be of great support in maintaining health and fitness goals. When we take control of our bodies, we need to align our minds as well. It’s a lifestyle. Exercise and clan nutrition are the magic bullets and the sooner one begins, the longer they will preserve their attributes.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I’m getting my Master of Exercise Science at the moment so I’m looking forward to graduating! Then I can focus on finishing my book on the workout and stretching technique I’ve been developing. I’ll keep you posted!
What expert advice would you like to give?
The human body is a perfect machine and it regenerates and rejuvenates with movement. We were meant to hunt and gather and in order to remain healthy, we need to emulate the daily movements of our ancestors, as they climbed and ran and pushed and pulled. Lifting weights is the Fountain of Youth. Learn about proper exercise form and never stop!
