How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Yasmin De Paula, a Brazilian actor, model, and performer based in New York City. I’m a passionate film actor inspired by all forms of storytelling, whether through acting, modeling, singing, or dance. I graduated from AMDA, where I received extensive training in Musical Theater, and I’ll be continuing my education this spring at The New School to earn my Bachelor of Fine Arts. I deeply value the continuous process of learning and creating, and I hope to move and inspire others through art.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
My biggest hardship was moving to the US at a young age. I left my hometown, São Paulo, Brazil, with my family in 2014, and adapting to that change was difficult. The cultural differences were drastic, and we often felt like fish out of water. However, overcoming that was the biggest lesson I learned, and I am very grateful for that experience because I would never have become the person I am today without it.
What do people usually not know about you?
What people might not know about me is that I am a very introspective and spiritual person. I enjoy understanding the psychology of the human mind and how we are wired to behave. I like to believe that life is much deeper than we think, and that there are infinite ways to look at things if only we open ourselves to them.
What sets you apart from others?
I like to look at life more deeply. I’m not drawn to superficial or material pursuits; I’m fascinated by meaning and growth. I view life as a form of art, an ongoing journey of self-discovery and expression. I like to understand the way the world works, but in a more meaningful way. I believe that life is an eternal learning and growing process, we are constantly discovering ourselves, and that being unordinary is the best quality one can have.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I’m currently shooting a feature film titled Bloodline, written and directed by Aditya Kumar, where I play the role of Sara. I’m especially excited about this project because it allows me to combine two of my passions, acting and singing.
What expert advice would you like to give?
You will never learn to swim by watching with your feet on land, dive and find out.
