How do you introduce yourself?
Hello! My name is Winter Bassett and I’m an actress, writer, and producer “based in La, willing to shave.”
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
There’s this constant pressure—spoken and unspoken—to look a certain way as an actress in the industry. I’ve struggled with my weight and self image as long as I can remember, but during the pandemic especially. It really took a mental toll on me which affected my physical and mental health big time. I fell back into some unhealthy eating habits and really struggled with body dysmorphia. There was never a time I wasn’t asking myself “What can I do to be more “bookable.” (INSANE). It’s taken a lot of inner work to start breaking out of that mindset and I’ve been learning to listen to my body, nourish instead of punishing it, and work out routines that work for me. (Shout out yoga and lifting weights). I’m very thankful to say I have an amazing support system and I hope to be an encouragement for others who may also be struggling.
What do people usually not know about you?
I am the oldest of six siblings (Don’t even get me started on the fact we were all homeschooled…)
What sets you apart from others?
Probably my sense of humor. You either really like me, or CAN’T STAND me. (But it’s okay I still love you from a distance)
What are your upcoming major events ?
My thriller feature film I’m starring in and produced, Lost Joy, is now available to rent or buy on Amazon and AppleTV! As for upcoming major events… You’ll have to stick around 😉
What expert advice would you like to give?
Trust your gut. Your intuition is so powerful. Love people. Find your community. You are so much more loved than you know. Be kind and gentle with yourself, life is hard!! You don’t have to like everyone, but try to be kind anyway.
