Tebogo Moashetsi As Cover Story Interview – June 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I am Tebogo Moashetsi, a young actor born in North West, Wolmaransstad South Africa in 2004 but raised in Johannesburg, Benoni (Chief A Luthuli park). I believe that Art heals and I intend to heal others with my talents and storytelling.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
The death of my father in 2009 is something that hit hard, especially having spent such little time with him. My mother (Dimakatso Moashetsi) who is my rock, my queen had to leave me behind in North West to find work in Johannesburg, Benoni to be specific. I had to live with my great-grandmother and grandfather and then 3 years later I was taken in by my aunt in Alexandra. I lived there for 2 years before I was finally reunited with my mother in Benoni. Moving around as a kid was hard for me but eventually I was living with my mother (Dimakatso Moashetsi), my stepfather (Henrico Waterboer), and my siblings (Bonang and Reatlegile Moashetsi), My family whom I love very much.
What do people usually not know about you?
Many do not know about my lack of confidence and how insecure I am, but in this industry confidence is key. I try to be more confident in my craft so that even if I’m not confident in myself, my craft will speak for me.
What sets you apart from others?
I would say nothing. I think we’re all the same and nothing sets me apart. We were all put on this earth with a purpose and we are all trying to fulfill it, no matter how hard it is we keep working on it because God wouldn’t put a dream in your head if it was impossible to achieve. We are all humans, we may have different races or genders but we are all people, we are all the same and nothing should set us apart from others.
What are your upcoming major events?
At this moment, it is hard to say as nothing exciting seems to be happening and some are confidential but I hope to get bigger roles in the near future and challenge myself as an actor.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Always believe in your craft. In whatever you do, do not measure success by how far you are going but by how far you have come from where you started because the finish line might seem far but just keep on going. For my fellow actors “an actor prepares”, work on your craft because talent without hard work is meaningless.
