How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Shyamika Gupta, and I am an actor and model with a Masters degree in Pharmacy. Though I have an educational background in pharmacy, I am a creative and artist at heart — it is where I find the most flow and zest for life.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I faced adversity in school, having spent most of my formative years with this. However, I believe that the experience has made me who I am today – a kind, empathetic woman who knows how to command a room.
What do people usually not know about you?
People usually don’t know that I studied acting in middle school. Also, although I live in a city with an urban lifestyle, I am a nature girl. I grew up spending most of my free time in nature, hiking, cycling and horse riding.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with others. I truly want to know others and learn from them. This past summer, I competed in Miss Universe Canada and was awarded Miss Congeniality by my pageant sisters. My desire to connect with others, along with the professionalism and enthusiasm I bring to every project, helps me leave those I have worked alongside with a feeling of being known and cared for, something I try to accomplish wherever I go. As a model and actor, I treat every booking as an opportunity to deliver my best work. I show up prepared, adaptable, and enthusiastic, because I truly love what I do. That energy translates on set and helps create a great experience for everyone involved
What are your upcoming major events?
I will be modelling in the upcoming season of Fashion Art Toronto and Toronto’s Own Fashion Week (TOFW).
What expert advice would you like to give?
In this industry and any endeavour of show business, rejection and self doubt is inevitable. When you know what you want, it’s so important to stick to it and take action, no matter what others around you say or think. You owe it to yourself to live life for yourself. You have the power to manifest all your dreams into reality. Everything you want in life is already there and your reality is a direct reflection of your mindset.
