How do you introduce yourself?
Hi I’m Sharesa Hendrix. I’m 49 and recently single after 30 years. I’m a Stage IV Colorectal Cancer Survivor, a mom to three beautiful girls (one of them being my dog Daisy), a self-proclaimed “Disney Adult”, a lover of life and meeting new people. I also love to Travel and am a Travel Agent in my spare time. I recently joined the Content Creator community and vlog my daily life.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I lost my little brother in 2015 when he was only 20 years old. I was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer on January 1, 2019 and had a recurrence in July of 2021. I am now starting over in life as an older single woman after my husband had an affair with a much younger girl.
What do people usually not know about you?
Most people wouldn’t know that I was painfully shy growing up and had many insecurities. I’ve worked really hard to get where I am today in loving myself fully with all of my scars both inside and out.
What sets you apart from others?
I would say my confidence and my ability to share so much of myself with total strangers by being open and vulnerable even when it’s scary and while receiving hateful comments like “Why do you think he cheated on you? I mean look at you” and “Expired Milk Has No Use”.
What are your upcoming major events?
I don’t currently have any big upcoming events, but I just recently had the opportunity to be a Cancer Ambassador and share the story of my journey as the featured speaker at a Fundraising luncheon to raise funds to fight all cancer. I hope to have more opportunities as a public speaker in the future.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Every Moment Matters. Live your life to its fullest and don’t take it for granted. Stay in the present and focus on what you can control. Don’t focus on the past or worry too much about the future. This has helped me get through many of the challenges that life has thrown at me. Enjoy the little moments, spending time with the ones you love, staring at the ocean, watching the sunset, feeling the grass. Sometimes those little moments can mean just as much as the big ones.
