Roberta Terry As Cover Story Interview – January 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

Roberta Terry. I’m the founder and photographer behind Peau Sauvage, a Montreal-based photography project dedicated to self-love, body positivity, and emotional healing. Through intimate, respectful portraits, I create safe spaces where people can reconnect with themselves and be seen exactly as they are — without masks, expectations, or judgment.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Like many people, I’ve gone through periods of deep self-doubt, emotional exhaustion, and the pressure to constantly perform or conform. I’ve struggled with identity, boundaries, and learning to listen to my own needs. These experiences, while difficult, became the foundation of my work — they taught me empathy, gentleness, and the importance of honoring our inner world.

What do people usually not know about you?

People often see the calm and strength behind my work, but they don’t always know how sensitive and introspective I am. Peau Sauvage was born not from confidence, but from vulnerability. Photography became my language when words felt insufficient.

What sets you apart from others?

Peau Sauvage isn’t about posing or perfection — it’s about presence. My approach blends photography with emotional awareness, allowing each session to feel more like an experience than a shoot. I prioritize trust, consent, and authenticity, creating images that reflect how someone feels, not just how they look.

What are your upcoming major events?

I’m currently expanding Peau Sauvage through curated portrait experiences, brand collaborations aligned with mental well-being, and editorial features. I’m also working on long-term projects that explore identity, softness, and resilience through storytelling and photography.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Slow down and listen to yourself. Healing, creativity, and growth don’t come from pushing harder — they come from allowing space. Whether in life or business, alignment is more powerful than perfection.
