Melica Moshiri As Cover Story – April 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Melica — a global AI tech recruitment business owner and property investor. I’m also currently on this year’s season of The Apprentice on BBC in the UK, where I made it all the way to Week 8.
I have a bachelors in Law and over a decade of experience in sales and recruitment. I’ve lived in Los Angeles and Orange County, but I was born and raised in the UK. My heritage is Persian. I’m passionate about fitness and travel — I’ve visited 36 countries so far.
My friends would describe me as down-to-earth, kind, quirky, hardworking, and successful.
Childhood to Adulthood – How was your transition and what are the good and bad things you remember?
My childhood came with its challenges. I didn’t speak until I was five, and my parents’ relationship wasn’t stable. I was raised primarily by my dad.
Despite that, I’ve achieved so much on my own. I exceeded all my predicted grades, built a property portfolio through my own income, became a top biller for five consecutive years, moved to Southern California solo, and launched a profitable business.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
The challenges I mentioned above shaped me. From overcoming speech delays and navigating a tough childhood, to building a life and business from scratch — it’s all been part of my journey. Each hardship taught me resilience and independence.
What do people usually not know about you?
I’m a property investor. I own a couple of properties that I rent out, and I’m actively expanding my portfolio.
What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?
Authenticity is key for me – what you see is what you get. I work incredibly hard and have built a strong global network across the tech industry in the US and Europe. One of my former bosses once said, ‘It’s like Melica has 20 pairs of hands,’ which speaks to my strong work ethic and ability to get things done. I’m a dedicated and effective recruiter.
What are your upcoming major events or products/services you’d like to promote?
This year, I’ll be speaking at several events, including the University of Brighton’s Enterprise Forum. I’ll also be doing a fireside chat with a public global company to discuss women’s empowerment in business.
What are your food preferences and physical attributes?
Persian food — obviously! It’s my favorite.
Your love life, relationships, and family?
I’m incredibly close to my family and friends. Many of my friendships span over 15 years. While most of my family lives in Iran, I have a strong support system here made up of family friends I consider my own.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Don’t give up and don’t be afraid. You won’t know if something will work unless you try. And if it doesn’t? So what — the fact that you tried is something to be proud of.
