Tell us about yourself?
I’m an Oregon born and raised singer-songwriter who loves feta cheese! My music is heavily influenced by my surroundings and personal experiences, which I try to capture in my lyrics. I’ve been playing music since I was a teenager and it’s always been a huge part of my life.
Your new single Narcissus is out. Tell us about this single?
Narcissus is about that guy you dated that “knows” he’s way too good for you and anything else who has ever breathed. The song is a tongue-in-cheek take on the narcissistic personality type, and I hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever dealt with someone like that. I think it’s a universal experience that many people can relate to.
What is the inspiration behind the song?
Conversations with guys I’ve met have inspired the making of this song. I’ve had my fair share of interesting encounters that have sparked ideas for my music, and this song is no exception. Sometimes it’s the smallest interactions that can lead to the biggest creative breakthroughs.
What sets this song apart from the others you’ve released?
This song is a lot sillier than other songs I’ve been working on. I’ve put out some moody music recently and this is a lot lighter. I think it’s nice to have a bit of contrast in my discography, and Narcissus provides a fun and playful contrast to some of my more serious work.
What do you have coming up in the future?
New song July 1! I’m really excited about the new music I’m working on and I think my fans are going to love it. I’m always trying to push myself creatively and come up with something fresh and exciting.
What expert advice would you like to give to other musicians?
I’m not sure I have expert advice but I do wish there were musicians putting out upbeat music in the colder months. I think music has the power to affect our moods and emotions, and sometimes a bright and cheerful song is just what we need to brighten up a gloomy day. Maybe that’s a challenge I’ll take on myself!
