How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Loranne Bourdages, and I am a young artist from Quebec City, Canada. I am a singer and a writer, with a growing passion for acting. I composed the song “More Than Enough” in collaboration with Felix Lemelin. It’s about self-esteem and self-affirmation, and it helped me get noticed. I now have over 135K streams on various platforms. “More Than Enough” is an anthem to authenticity, a call to embrace who we truly are without trying to please everyone. I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with other talented musicians on some of the major stages in my city. Currently, I’m studying classical voice at the Quebec City Conservatory of Music (Le Conservatoire de musique de Québec). This training helps me develop my vocal technique and take part in a wide range of creative projects. Most recently, I created a blog to share my writing, my favorite things, and my thoughts. It is also a space to highlight inspiring young people and to allow others to write and express themselves freely on topics that are important to them. Through my journey and my actions, I hope to leave a meaningful mark. I want to send a powerful message of hope to all generations, especially to young people who are searching for their identity.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Being a young artist involved in so many projects is a great opportunity, but it can also be a heavy burden. My schedule is often packed with rehearsals, classes, and creative ideas I want to bring to life. When you’re passionate, you give it your all, and sometimes that can create a disconnect with other young people my age. Early on, I realized that dreaming big and taking up space could make some people uncomfortable. Along my journey, some have tried to limit me with their comments or their silence. I started to doubt myself and wanted to be more discreet. I felt like I was becoming someone else just to please others. Today, I’m learning to stop apologizing for who I am, to say no when I need to, and to surround myself with people who celebrate my successes instead of holding me back. My art is my way of staying true to myself. So, yes, there are challenges: a feeling of loneliness and not always being understood. I carry a lot of responsibility, and my dreams don’t always fit the typical mold for a 13-year-old. However, with time, I’m learning to find my balance and to surround myself with people who respect my pace and accept me as I am. I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their understanding and their invaluable support!

What do people usually not know about you?

I’m currently writing a fantasy novel. I’m currently writing a fantasy novel, a project that’s very close to my heart because it lets me build a complete universe: one that feels both distant and familiar. The story takes place in the year 4029, in a futuristic world where the main character’s choices will have consequences for the rest of the world. So even though the story is set far from our reality, the emotions and experiences the characters go through are deeply human: doubt, loyalty, anger, love, and the need for freedom. I’m trying to transpose what we experience today into a futuristic fantasy universe. Through my novel, I want to show that no matter the era, what touches us stays universal. I have the soul of a traveler. I have the soul of a traveler. Last summer, I shared stories from my trips to Bali and Paris on my blog. For me, traveling is a way to step out of my comfort zone. I love it because it helps me break from my routine, discover how people live elsewhere, and find new ideas for my creative work. Later on, during my studies or after, I can definitely see myself living in a big city like New York, Paris or London. These places are full of life and art, and I’m sure I could thrive there. I’m always open to any opportunity that would allow me to travel and learn at the same time. Traveling does me good, it helps me see things differently and reconnect with what truly matters.

What sets you apart from others?

Acting, improvisation, social engagement, singing, musical theater, writing… These are all strings to my bow. Each discipline brings me something unique: spontaneity, active listening, discipline, emotion, focus and more. I don’t see them as separate boxes, but as elements of a whole. People often ask me what I want to be when I grow up. My answer is: I want to create projects. I don’t limit myself to just one profession. I love many things, and for now, instead of choosing between all my passions, I’m bringing them together. I use my passions as tools to build projects that speak to me and let me bring all my skills together.

What are your upcoming major events?

I’m currently working on my second original song, which explores the theme of mourning. It’s a delicate subject, but one that is very important to me. I want to approach it with honesty, leaving space for emotion and for the light that can still be found in difficult moments. As part of my studies at the Conservatoire, we are preparing for a beautiful Christmas concert. It will be my first time performing a classical song, which is both exciting and challenging. I’ll also have the chance to host the evening, which allows me to combine two things I love: being on stage and connecting with the audience.

What expert advice would you like to give?

I don’t see myself as an expert! I still have so much to learn. But if there’s one piece of advice I can share, it’s this: surround yourself with the right people! Throughout my journey, the people have made all the difference. I’ve had invaluable mentors who take the time to support the next generation and generously share their experience and their advice. These are people with heart, people who cross my path and light it up with their presence, their listening, and their encouragement. I want to thank my people, the ones who believe in me and lift me up. These precious individuals who offer their time and presence on my journey inspire me and encourage me to go further. When you’re well-supported, you go further and you stay true to yourself, even when facing major challenges. To everyone who helps me, whether with advice or a simple word of encouragement, THANK YOU. Your support means the world to me, and I’ll never forget it.
