Karleen Griffin As Cover Story Interview – December 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Karleen Griffin, a proud mom of two, actress, model, and an evolving creative voice stepping into a new chapter of storytelling and on-camera artistry. My journey has been anything but traditional, and every step has shaped the woman and the artist I am becoming. I’m passionate about creating meaningful work, exploring new avenues of expression, and building projects that reflect depth, authenticity, and the power of reinvention. While I can’t share all of what I’m developing just yet, I’m excited for the world to experience the next evolution of my creative life.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

I’ve lived through things that almost took me out. I’ve survived childhood trauma, bullying, domestic violence, suicide attempts, and mental health battles that were loud, messy, and terrifying. There were days when getting out of bed felt impossible and days when I truly didn’t know if I would make it to the next one. On top of that, I raised two children completely on my own. I was their safe place, their stability, their everything, even when I was breaking inside.

I learned how to push through fear, exhaustion, depression, and trauma while still showing up for them and somehow rebuilding myself in the process. My healing wasn’t pretty. It came with relapses, setbacks, and moments where I had to face the truth of who I was and what I had survived. But it also woke something up in me; a strength, a fire, a depth I didn’t know I had. Those lived experiences didn’t just change me… They live in all I’ve become and am becoming. They live in my acting, in my creativity, and in the new work I’m stepping into. They gave me emotional truth. They gave me empathy. They gave me the ability to feel life fully, the light and the shadows. I didn’t come from an easy story. I came from survival. And survival turned me into someone who can transform pain into art.

What do people usually not know about you?

Most people don’t know that I was one of the original Dove girls in the 2005 Dove Beauty Campaign, Love the Skin  Your In. I represented Black women with freckles, curves, and natural beauty at a time when that wasn’t widely visible in mainstream media. The campaign centered on real women,  different skin tones, body types, shapes, and sizes and challenged the narrow standards of beauty that dominated advertising back then. That moment helped pave the way for what we see more of today: authenticity, representation, and embracing natural beauty without apology. Being part of a movement that shifted how beauty is seen and who gets to be seen, is something I’ll always be proud of.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is the same thing that sets everyone apart: everything. We’re all unique expressions of the divine, created with our own energy, our own purpose, and our own way of moving through the world. Even when some people share similar paths or spiritual blueprints, no two of us carry the same fingerprints. That alone is what makes each of us distinct, including me.

What are your upcoming major events?

No major events yet. I do have a few important projects unfolding that I’m really looking forward to. One of the biggest is a film project set for release in 2026. It’s a project I’ve been developing with lots of care, and while it’s currently waiting to be shot, it represents a major milestone in my creative journey. I’m also working on a new creative project that’s still under wraps. It’s something I’ve been building quietly and intentionally, and I’ll be able to share more details when the timing is right. Alongside these developments, I’m continuing to explore new acting opportunities, collaborate with other creatives, and expand my work in ways that feel aligned with where I’m headed.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Heal and love yourself so deeply that you stop searching for validation outside of you. Attach yourself to nothing, because everything in life is temporary. Guard your thoughts; they become your reality. Trust your intuition; it’s your built-in guide. What’s meant for you will never pass you, and when you truly believe that, the unknown stops being something to fear. Choose your circle wisely. You become who you surround yourself with, and people are either an asset or a liability to your peace, purpose, and growth. And remember: you don’t only live once; you live every day, if you choose.
