Joy Jewett As Cover Story Interview – September 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Joy Jewett. I’m a fashion model, a published poet-author, a cancer survivor, and a widow. My journey has shaped me into someone who not only celebrates beauty and creativity, but also resilience and hope. Through my work and writing, I aim to inspire others to embrace their own stories with strength and grace.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I’ve endured profound hardships — becoming a widow, surviving cancer, and starting over financially from nothing. I’ve faced career setbacks, the challenge of moving to Europe, and the uphill battle of publishing my books. Yet every obstacle sharpened my resilience and strengthened my determination to rise.
What do people usually not know about you?
People often see me as a fashion model and author, but what many don’t know is how strongly I speak out against scam dating sites. These sites steal or pay for images of fashion models, then use AI chatbots or hired workers to impersonate the people in the photos. Men and women sign up believing they’re connecting with a real person, when in reality they’re paying to talk to a fantasy. It’s a billion-dollar industry built on deception, preying on people who are vulnerable and looking for genuine relationships. In 2023, reported losses from dating and imposer scams topped US$1.14 billion in the U.S. alone. AI is now making it worse — generating fake images, scripted conversations, even videos — all to keep victims engaged and spending money. I want to use my platform to call this out. Social media giants like Instagram and Facebook must stop allowing ads and marketing for these fraudulent sites. It’s time for accountability — people deserve real love, not to be exploited by foreign corporations in country such as Malta running digital lies.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is my ability to transform pain into purpose. I’ve lived through losses that could have broken me, but instead they gave me creativity, empathy, and the courage to speak out. Whether on the runway, on the page, or in advocacy, I bring authenticity and resilience that connect with people. I also want other women and men who have survived great losses to know this: life must continue. Find a purpose for yourself, step out of your comfort zone, and become who you believe you are meant to be. Only you and God know your future — so pray, believe in yourself, and remember that with faith and trust in God, anything is possible.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’m preparing for new modeling projects, literary work, and advocacy initiatives. My upcoming focus is not only on fashion and writing but also on raising awareness about online scams and digital safety. I’m moving into commercial and lifestyle modeling, and I’ve written five books that I’m seeking to publish through a traditional publishing house. I stepped away from London and Paris Fashion Week due to a family emergency, but I’m looking forward to returning in Spring 2026. Another passion of mine is advocacy for models over 55, who are too often overlooked — not because of their appearance, but because designers hire celebrities or silver-screen actors to fill those roles. I’m reaching out to pioneers like Maye Musk and others to build momentum and bring awareness to ageism in the fashion industry. Each of these steps reflects my mission to use art, beauty, and voice to empower others.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice is simple but powerful: be consistent, stay resilient, and never let failure silence you. Passion and talent may open doors, but it’s discipline and persistence that carry you through. And in today’s digital world, protect yourself. Verify, question, and guard your trust. Don’t let anyone — or any system — exploit your vulnerability. Your strength is not just in what you achieve, but in how you protect and value yourself along the way.
