James Benson (Actor) was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online Magazine and here is the Q&A session we had with Benson.
James Benson As Cover Story Interview – February 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Benson, James Benson. I am a second act Actor. Well, I actually began Acting in youth theatre in a number of school and community theatre productions. After a 20 year career in CPG Marketing at companies including Kraft Heinz, Becton Dickinson and Maple Leaf Foods, I returned to my passion as a full time Actor in the summer of 2023. Since then, I have dedicated a ton of time and energy to my craft with extensive improv and on camera scene study training at The Second City and Toronto Acting Studios. In the past two years, I have appeared in over 35 productions including six feature film roles, more than 25 short film projects as well as a few commercials and industrial shoots. I have my foot on the gas here… can’t wait to see what is ahead in this crazy business!
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Well, I am fortunate to have a wonderful and healthy family now. Having said that, I had a life changing health scare about four years ago. That experience changed my perspective on life big time. I left my career to pursue my passion in film. The key take away for me… chase your dreams with abandon. Life is short and I didn’t want to get to the end of my life and regret not pursuing my passion. I tell you, being on set is addictive and the relationships I have built have been just wonderful. There is nothing like working together as a dedicated team to bring a story to life. The vulnerability and energy that is part of the process builds incredibly rewarding friendships.
What do people usually not know about you?
Those I have met since I became a full time Actor are always surprised to learn that I had another career for many years. I am proud of the businesses I grew, successful products I helped launch and the mentorship of younger Marketing professionals was rewarding. On the flip side, the people from that life are shocked (and not all supportive) of my new career. When you make a radical life change midstream, you sure find out who your friends are! Haha! Wouldn’t change it for the world. I feel I am meant to be an Actor and am very proud of the films I have been a part of since the change.
What sets you apart from others?
There are many fantastic Actors out there but not many that have had my life path. My life experiences are invaluable when developing a character and there are not a lot of my peers with similar experiences.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I currently have four short films in the festival circuit including The Hollow Rabbit (horror), The Set Up (comedy), The Rat (thriller) and To Turn The Air Blue (comedy). I have a feature film coming out later in the year entitled Rainbow The Killer… I play the antagonist Detective Ron Fraser. I am also venturing into Producing with a number of projects in the works. Finally, I am writing a feature film script that I am very excited about. So I am definitely all in on the film making!!
What expert advice would you like to give?
- It’s never too late to follow your passions and dreams
- Don’t worry about what others think… we are all going to be dead! Follow your heart!
- Whatever your goals, pursue with as much passion and energy as you can muster
- Believe in the power of manifestation. Believe it will happen and you are half way there!
