Jacob Stockton As Cover Story Interview – December 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Jacob Stockton. I’m a writer and director from the North East of England, and my work focuses on emotionally driven stories that reveal the truth in people, especially under pressure.

What Hardships Did You Go Through In Your Life?

I grew up in a working-class area where creative opportunities were rare. Nothing was handed to me and everything I’ve built has come from persistence, self-belief, and finding my own path into filmmaking.

If anything, that lack of opportunity pushed me harder. It made me determined to create work that felt honest and human.

What’s Something People Usually Don’t Know About You?

I actually started off as an actor. Pretty quickly, I realised my real passion was behind the camera — shaping stories, building worlds, and guiding performances. Directing became the space where everything clicked for me.

What sets you apart from others?

As a writer and director, I have emotional transparency that most others do not. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I’m not afraid to express my emotions.

What are your upcoming major events?

I have the Royal Television Society Awards in February 2026, which is incredibly exciting. Alongside that, I’m developing several new scripts, each one pushing my storytelling further and continuing to grow from the momentum of recent festival wins and BBC coverage.

What would be your expert advice?

Stay composed when things get difficult. Filmmaking tests you constantly. Treat everyone with respect, from actors to crew.

Make people want to be a part of what you’re achieving. And above all, don’t be afraid to be weird and different. Your individuality is your greatest strength as an artist.
