Emilie Culshaw As Cover Story Interview – December 2025 Magazine Edition

1. Emilie, what a fantastic year you’ve had at Big Condo Records with two major releases, Trapdoor and Cherry Haze. How has the year been for you?

Thank you so much. This year has been nothing short of a dream come true. Doing what I love, creating music and performing. Beyond grateful to the whole team at Big Condo Records for making this possible. Big love to all of you. You’re the best. I have grown so much as a person, as well as a performer, songwriter, and artist. So much is coming, and I’m so excited to finally share everything with you all.

2. We hear you’re headlining Liverpool’s Independent Venue Week. How amazing is that, and how does it feel?

When I found out I was headlining Independent Venue Week, I had tears of joy. It’s a huge milestone and it’s going to be amazing, especially as it’s in my home city, Liverpool. It’s a full-circle moment. It’s at the Kazimier Stockroom in Liverpool, tickets on skiddle.

3. Can you tell us a little bit about your support acts for Independent Venue Week 2026?

Please! I’m so incredibly excited to share the stage with talented artists such as Emzz, Liberty Fillingham, Grace Stevo, Beth Hubbard, Mollie Rose, Eva Rose, and Aivah Melody, Eva Rose and Liberty both supported me at my single launch party for Cherry Haze, they absolutely smashed it. Grace Stevo and Eva Rose also supported me at my Trapdoor launch party, they smashed it! They are all so amazing, go and check them out. Big love to them all.

4. How does it feel now that things are starting to slow down following the success of Cherry Haze?

It’s all gone by so fast. All the support from the radio stations, magazines, blogs, podcasts, everyone at the label Big Condo Records, and of course my amazing community has meant the absolute world. I’m excited to be moving on now to other projects and more new music for the future. Big things are coming in 2026 is about to be huge.

5. What were the main differences between the Trapdoor music video and the Cherry Haze video?

The Trapdoor music video was directed by Chase Johnston-Lynch, which was such a great experience, getting to use projectors for visuals and also working in a big studio. Cherry Haze was shot on location in a manor; shooting was so fun. I enjoyed both, two very different experiences. Shout out to JJ Productionz for editing both videos, Cathy Neale for clothing on Trapdoor single, Iconic NW CIC on set design, and Royzy on camera. So thankful for the whole team.

6. You recently featured on Dr Seuss’ Oligarchs and Monarchs, Car Parks and Wallets mixtape. Which tracks do you feature on, and where can people hear it?

I feature on three tracks: Me Myself and I (Remix), Black Widow (Remix), and Flavour in Your Ear ft. Miss Stylie. When Royzy Rothschild asked me to be part of his final mixtape, I was so excited to work on it. An honour to be a part of such a special project! The mixtape will be available to listen to via YouTube and Audiomack, out 31st December.

7. Who are your top 10 unsigned artists from the North West of England or the wider UK scene?

I love this question, but there are too many to name who are amazing, and I love them all.

8. We’ve heard you’ve started working on single number three — can you give us any gossip or hints?

I have recently completed the recording of my third single. I’m very happy with the turnout; it’s currently in the process of being mixed and mastered. This one’s different, more personal. It’s dark, dreamy, and emotional, about having to let someone go who mistreats you. It’s a very important song to me, and I hope you all love it as much as I do, This song was produced by the wonderful Aimee Britannia, executively produced by Royzy Rothschild, and mixed by Hikstr The Engineer, who is amazing. A great team to have on board, very grateful to you all and for all your hard work on this single.

9. There’s talk of you dropping your own mixtape on Audiomack. Why is this such a bold move, and do you see it as a game changer?

Yes, I will be dropping my own mixtape on Audiomack. That will include my favourite songs I have performed in my set. We recorded this mixtape in one week. One of the songs is already available via YouTube, it’s the Madison Beer ‘’Make You Mine’’ remix. Madison Beer is a huge inspiration of mine when it comes to music; her songs are pure vibes, and I love her whole discography. Very inspiring and heartfelt.

10. Can you share a life quote that really means something to you?

There are two life quotes, actually, that have stuck with me throughout my journey. One of them is, “Sometimes all you want is on the other side of fear.” I live by this quote; it’s helped me push myself towards taking opportunities I was too afraid to take, all of which have only led me in a positive direction.

My second quote is, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” It’s so true! We often limit and self-sabotage ourselves in life because we don’t believe we are deserving or worthy of great things. Never let this stop you. You are so worthy and deserving of amazing things, and you’re capable of anything you put your mind to. Always believe in yourself.

11. A little birdie has told us you might be going on your first official tour — can you tell us anything about that?

Yes, this is correct. I will be going on my first UK headline tour, touring my debut EP near the end of 2026! Such a huge dream come true words cannot express how excited and thankful I am for this incredible experience. Big love to Big Condo Records for making this possible. Big love to the whole team.

We will be coming to London, Birmingham, Liverpool… and more! So excited to experience this music with you all LIVE for the first time. It’s going to be so special. Roll on 2026!

12. Dream. Believe. Achieve. by Emilie Culshaw, can you tell us more about your clothing line and how it came about?

A clothing line is something that I have always wanted to do. What a lot of people don’t know about me is that not only am I passionate about music, but also passionate about fashion and design. I am working with very talented people on this project, and I can’t wait to share more about it with you very soon! Stay tuned.

13. You’re smashing everything right now, and 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year. What is the Poptastic showcase you’re hosting with Big Condo Records?

Thank you so much! Poptastic is a live music event I will host every quarter of the year to showcase and uplift emerging pop indie artists. It will be held in Liverpool and will include a lineup of incredible pop artists. So excited to host my first night.

14. Going number one on Brazilian radio again is huge. What does it feel like to be doing interviews and getting played worldwide?

I can’t believe it! I’m so happy my music is connecting with people all over the world. It feels very surreal. Brazil has shown so much support for Cherry Haze and Trapdoor, it means the absolute world to me! Big, big love to Brazil. I hope to perform there soon! Shout out to Radio Nova Hits in Brazil for all the support, so thankful.

15. Finally, what would you like to say to our readers?

Thank you for taking the time to read this interview! My latest single, Cherry Haze, is available to listen to on all platforms. I hope 2026 treats you very well, sending love!
