Defne was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online magazine and below is the Q&A session we had with her.
How do you introduce yourself and profession?
Defne: I am a 21-year-old final year student with a passion for modelling and fashion. I model mainly freelance and I enjoy working with agencies that have a creative approach to new projects. I have an enthusiasm for travelling and modelling in different countries. I have an outgoing, confident, and energetic personality. I always pay attention to be tidy and well-dressed.
Childhood to Adulthood – How was the transition from your childhood into adulthood/teenage and what good and bad things you remember?
Defne: I was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey. I moved to London by myself for education when I was 17. It was a good thing for me to get out of my comfort zone at such a young age and develop my personality. Unfortunately, my education was mostly online due to COVID-19, which was a disappointment for me and I couldn’t find a chance to socialize and live a student life.
Struggle – What hardships you faced during your life?
Defne: As a model, it was not easy for me to work on my studies and career at the same time. You need to work hard days and nights as it is challenging both physically and mentally. Sometimes, models spend up to 12 hours walking in high heels. Also, many modelling recruiters are supposed to choose a couple of models from thousands of candidates, therefore many of them are often harsh and strict with you. It is vital to be exceptionally confident and strong.
Things that people usually don’t know about you?
Defne: It is quite tricky for people when it comes to guessing my nationality. Since I do modelling, I’ve been told so many nationalities and people are surprised when they find out that I’m Turkish. I highly support models being diverse and I enjoy when I get to see a whole team from different nationalities and ethnicities.
What makes you unique from your competitors in the industry and life?
Defne: I am punctual and I am willing to go above expectations to ensure the project goes well, I think this is what makes me a hard worker and motivated in life. I believe what makes me unique is I do not usually dress for my body type. Many clothes and different designs suit my body. I love wearing different styles such as classic, sporty and formal.
What are the major Upcoming Events that you want to promote/inform our readers about?
Defne: While I do not have any direct upcoming events at the moment, I am looking forward to traveling Europe for fashion weeks as a model. I am willing to expand my opportunities and deeply interested in adding more experience to my career in the future.
What are your diet preferences, physical appearance, sizes and measurements?
Defne: I am tall (5’7), blonde and small in size. My body measurements are 85-65-91. I walk daily to keep my shape and I prefer the Mediterranean diet as it helps me to stay healthy as well as it is tasty. I usually do not eat more than 2 main meals a day.
What Expert Advice would you like to share with the readers about professional and social field of life?
Defne: Building a successful modelling career is not easy, it requires dedication and perseverance. You need to go to dozens of castings, work a lot, and visit many countries to achieve success as a model. Therefore, one of the most critical steps is having a variety of headshots and full body shots to submit and getting recognized by potential agencies.
